Studies have shown that drinking milk can help out with weight loss. My educated guess is that even though milk has a lot of calories, it makes you feel full, unlike sugary drinks like soda.

Milk has calories and nothing has been proven to show it helps in weight loss.
People who drink milk might lose weight more than people who don't but they are probably interested in good health so just happens to be true.
Milk has calcium and vitamin D so is good for you and some non fat milk would have a good place in a low calorie diet but not proven to have any special properties for weight loss.

Don't know exactly why.. But My dietitian told drinking milk at least a 8oz glass a day helps in weight loss...
