The antenna is a cheap one. It does not say but most likely it is a 1/4 wave antenna. It uses a magnet, rather than a solid connection to the vehicle body, so the ground may not be as good as it should be!

If you are just going to use the CB for travel, it is not a really bad antenna. If you want to get the most out of your unit, there are much better antennas available. They will be much more expensive!

To get the best results, mount the antenna in the center of the vehicle, on the roof. You may also want to attach an additional ground wire from the radio case to the vehicle!!

Your range is going to depend on many factors. Buildings, trees, hills and weather can all effect the range. With the antenna properly tuned and mounted, you will be looking at a couple of mile radius.

All CB Radios And Any proper antenna gives 15 miles range. Higher power is just shouting down the other signals who were going 15 miles but CB'ers are NOT Polite. Most of them would shout "FIRE," in a Theater to get a better seat.

vehicle to vehicle 15/20km.
vehicle to a base station20/40 km.
vehicle to a repeater station 20/40 km.
all of the above are dependant on line of sight transmission without interference from buildings, hills ect.In theory if you were oo top of mt. kosiosco you could talk up to 3000 km. depending on the radio on the receiveing end.
