The US no longer uses landmines like that. They are only to be used against military targets and we don't use the kind that last forever.
I think this should be a political solution and less of a military solution. I also think, however, that the CBP should have the ability to shoot illegals who come across. They are breaking the law. The police would shoot a bank robber or a murderer if they were in the middle of a crime. What would make these people any different?
Other posters call them innocent. Are robbers and murderers innocent, too?

How does a land mine know if it's being stepped on by an illegal? Border patrol people or animals could be blown up instead. While I agree we need to stop the invasion of illegals, I think that we could also be killings innocents.

"if you disagree you are a terrorist" - that is what they say. and then they arrest you under the patiot act and torture you and keep you imprisoned for the rest of your life without even seeing a lawyer
THEIR COUNTRY IS IN BAD SHAPE BECAUSE THEY ELECTED PEOPLE THAT MADE IT THAT WAY! AND IF THEY COME HERE THEY WILL VOTE AND ELECT PEOPLE THAT WILL DO THE SAME THING!
IT IS SIMPLE: JUST REQUIRE JAIL TIME FOR ANYBODY CAUGHT HIRING AN ILLEGAL. THEY WILL GO HOME AND FIX THEIR OWN COUNTRY SO THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO COME HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Securing the border is only logical land mines might be a bit dangerous to agents patrolling the border, but I agree with the principle. i also think that we should put people who hire illegal immigrants in prison.
