A diffuser is an attachment you put at the end of a blow dryer to spread out the hot air. The end is a broad circle. It is used for curly hair to preserve its shape.

The photos in the first answer are for nozzles which concentrate the hot air from a blow dryer. One runs the nozzle allong w/ a brush through the hair to straighten it.
