The last two times I tried getting a credit card, the report came back saying I was deceased. How do I fix that since I'm very much alive?

your credit looks like it has been compromised. contact transunion, the main (of 3) credit bureau, and speak with someone who can provide you information regarding your situation. you may need to have your credit reinstated and add a consumer statement on it. you may also want to add a credit freeze for a small fee (per bureau) which will restrict credit being run in your name. you can then authorize a lift of your credit prior to it being run when you need it (such as for a home or car purchase).

You can dispute any errors in your credit report with 3 steps. First you should confirm any credit report errors or inaccuracies. See where else these errors occur, and since its a matter of you being alive versus an invalid account that is open it should be easy to confirm this. Next you should dispute your credit report error, by making a copies of your credit report one for your record and another credit bureau. Point out that you are deceased according to their records. With the information that you have to support your claim make copies of that and submit it with your report to the bureau. Finally while the bureau is investigating your claim, be sure to notify your banks and credit card companies and anyone else who would access your account and notify them of the inaccuracy.

Check the SS death index and find out if you are actually dead. It will have your SS number and name so you can see if you died under another name and what state you were in.
I hope you totally recover, I thought I was dead once but I wasn't.
I was in the recovery room after surgery and my monitor starting alarming, I asked the nurse if I was dead and she said no. I was very relieved. :)

You may need to call the Social Security. Since credit cards and reports are tied to your SSN, I assume you need to call Social Security. You can find their number at the front of your phone book.
