College- a hell of a lot easier to find guys, but freshman year, all guys are players.
So avoid freshman. When guys are away from parents and can have all the sex they want, they will. Eventually, second year, they live alone and are tired of lonilness and meaningless sex and want a relationship.
I just was informally counselling all the freshmen girls first year, and soooo incredibly many of the first year guys were players. Second year+, they were normal.
1) Do watch out for players. 2) Make your relationship public before he touches you anywhere below the shoulder, it is a must! 3) make friends with his friends, he with yours, or no nooky. After your are buddies with each other's buddies, then you can make love. Get to know his buddies reallly well first 4) if you have problems, and you can't communicate, ask one of his buddies who is a close mutal friend now what you can do.
Buddy system keeps you protected from players. Paste relationship and pictures on facebook. Public. That way you know if he is a player or not. If he is a happy to do so, he likes you. He is against, it is symptom of a player. Why hide a hot girl? Its the normal reaction for guys to show off their girl; I'm hot stuff because she digs me. So if they don't want to show you off to the world, either 1) they are crazy 2) more likely, if they show off, then the other three girls he is dating will know and stop sleeping with him.
Insist on your interests, on commitment. Then you will find a decent guy that values it.
University- how to seduce a guy: dress hot, then stand next to him: what's your major? Oh, my other friend has the same major, fascinating, I always wanted to ask her, do....
You can go to the library. You can find hot guys with books. Then you can approach them and say, "I am sorry, but that book looks so intriguing, are you in accounting/archeology?
or "Interesting author, etc." You can easily get to know the hot guys in your class by asking them questions after class, continue talking and that leads into a coffee, and a date.
Make sure they are decent though.
Finally. There is no reason in hell why a girl should 1) ever date a freshman 2) ever get a guy at a drunken bash 3) ever date someone she met at a frat party.
I had a thing with a hot wonderful frat boy who had strong values. I met him at a conference. Meet the same guy in an academic setting and it could set up a different relationship dynamic, that he has to be nice to you.

Oh em gee!! I am wondering the SAME thing.. going to cal poly in the fall and its just like...i hope the guys there don't suck too!!
The guys are older, so they might be more mature. That might help. But...they will also know how to play girls better. So it must be all about finding the right guy.

i think college life is a lot better than high school life. well, for me it was. but yeah, lots of players in college. guys who will just want to hook up with you and not talk to you the next day.

College life is the same and it's diffrent. It won't be any easyer. And guys everywhere are players.
