There is footage of one A-10 that flew back to base in desert storm. Upon landing, it was missing one engine, ten feet off of one wing, have of it's tail, the body looked like swiss cheese, and all of the tires were flat. The landing was ugly, but the landing gear didn't collapse, and the pilot flew a mission in another aircraft the next day.
Someone told me (don't quote me on this) that this aircraft was striken from the inventory as a combat loss and transferred to the Air Force museum at Wright Patterson Air Force Base at Dayton, Ohio. in the same condition that it landed.

It can go down pretty easily, they downed one leaving the Iraqi International Airport in 2003, with a shoulder fired RPG. I was just researching these tonight. It can lose the BIGGEST Chain gun in the world, which is actually built AROUND the frame of the plane.
It's called the GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling gun, and it shoots 3,900 rounds a minute(50 per second). I wouldn't want that to fall into enemy hands.

A pilot of one was put on a recruiting drive \ speaking tour for the Army after the first gulf war. He had video footage of an Iraqi group with an anti aircraft missile shooting the right side of the wing off; he said they looked pretty demoralized as they flew over them on the way back with the busted wing. They landed; repaired the wing and went back into it.

A-10 Warthog is quite possibly the most ingeniously developed aircraft in current inventory. It was developed for CAS
It is the only aircraft to withstand a SAM attack, exact numbers on what can be lost I don't know, but their have been cases when one of it's engine got shot to hell, the right wings been torn off to the third weapons pylon(defying gravity), and it can withstand heavy anti-aircraft artillery

The A10 can fly with 70% of the wing missing. It can fly on only 1 engine and one with only half the tail section.

it is said it was designed to loose one engine, half of the horizontal sabilizer, one rudder, and third of the wing /from the undercarriage bay to the wingtip/ and keep flying. and it should be able to survive the belly landing without serious damage.
