All this sounds well and fine, however the condition of the panther has not been addressed. We often get people in to have such additions to their tattoos but unless the panther is reworked as well, it will look old and faded as the featured part as compared to the fresh surrounding tattoo work.
Stop into your favorite studio with some ideas - they can help with options as to what they feel will make this piece look great and ask for a price quote. If you can't afford it, save until you can. It has to be done right to look good.

No tattoo artist I know would respond to a request like that. You have to have some idea what you want before they will attempt anything. You could ask them for their thoughts about borders, or additions, but don't just ask them to do "something." Look on tattoo websites for borders, or additions which might make it pop. I had to do that with a celtic knotwork triangle. I took my idea into my artist, Kat (no, not that one), and she drew up the design I gave her, but showed me something else, using the same elements in a slightly different way. Now I've got a design on my arm that draws attention, not just an ugly, dark, triangle.

I know mine would! Most definitely. Don't know where you live but if your any where near Gentry, Arkansas go see Sarah at Two Guns Tattoos, she been an artist for probably 20 years, she is awesome and for $200 she wouldn't just jazz it up little, she'd rock that panther's world! She does custom work, and is very creative.

Some tattoo artist don't like working around other tattoo artist work. Why don't you get a new whole different tattoo

You should go to an artist and ask what they could do for that money, and then ask them to draw it out to make sure you like it. They won't start the tattoo until they know exactly what they'll be doing, which is doing what you want. Good luck!

While some artists refuse flat out to work on anything done by another tattooist, you will find that many will still do this for you. You might want to at least have a good idea of what you'd like done before you go in, however.
Good luck :)

Generally a tattoo artist can sketch something up for you. I would recommend going to a few differents artists and ask each of them what they would do to improve your tat and then decide who's idea you like the best! Or who knows, maybe their ideas will inspire you to create something of your own!

go to an artist and explain to him what you want. Don't tell him how much you have to spend. Let him quote you a price first. You might can save money that way. A good artist will sketch up something first and let you approve. If you don't like it you can always shop around.

First of all, you don't set the price.
Get some kind of an idea,
of what you want, before going to
the shop. Then if you and your artist
can agree, get a quote. Try looking
at some sites and getting info. Have
some idea of what it is you want done.

Yes. I don't see why not unless the city you live in $200 is just a meal at a restaurant otherwise that is a lot of money.
