You be honest and up front with the guy you are dating, the way you would want someone to be honest with you. Let him know you still have alot of feelings for your ex. If he truly cares about you he will understand. They say if you love something to let it go free if it is yours it will come back. If it doesn't then it was never really yours.

This happened to me the past couple months. And mannn, was it confusing. I went out with a guy, first guy I ever fell in love with (not the first guy I loved, just the first guy I fell IN love with). But I broke up with him, and started going out with another guy, and I needed to take a break with him becauase I kept thinking about my ex and realized I still loved him. I broke up with my boyfriend, but my ex was dating someone else already. Actually, a couple days ago, my ex said he missed me (he's still dating someone, but not the same person as before) but nothing's going to happen because he's still dating someone else. It's complicated.
But back to you on your situation, if he's single, and you're pretty sure you still love him, then I'd say go for it. You just might stay with him for a while.

Honestly, first you have to see if you still have a chance with your ex. If you had a nasty break up, it will be a bit harder to get him back even if you stop dating your bf. I think you are hurting yourself and Matt by going out with him... You should totally break up with Matt, but nicely, and try to get your ex back
