I do not sleep well, I don't want to take drugs but I don't know how long I can go on like this. It's like I can't stop from thinking!

Pam you could give meditation a try. That relaxes you and calms your mind. Sounds like you have a lot going on. Which is why you can not stop your mind to go to sleep. I had the same problem so I tried Sleep-aid made be Tylenol. 2 pills and 20 minutes later your head is bobbing and its time for bed. There are no extra drugs in the pills, just sleep aid. Its also not addictive.

You need to calm your mind before sleeping. I have the same problem...my body can be exhausted, but my mind is going a mile a minute and I can't sleep. I take sleeping pills, but some natural alternatives are to meditate or read before going to bed. There are many types of meditation...you can do some research and find one you like. It's one of the best things to calm your mind. You can also try jotting down your problems (no elaborate writing...just scribble what's on your mind). Sometimes just emptying all the "junk" that's in our heads even in a simplistic way like jotting them down like a grocery list helps a lot. Good luck and I wish you peace of mind.

Take a soothing cup of decaffinated tea or coffee in the evening and just relax. Take a hot bath or shower and then retreat to your bedroom.

Things that just randomly help me is staying away from lighted objects and not picking up any reading material because I can't stop thinking when I start reading anything. Oh--and, hehe, a comfy bed always helps me... =D

Hope this helps.

If you can't stop thinking late at night chances are you may be drinking caffeine,Try to limit that. Don't even eat chocolate candy to close to bedtime. Maybe a cup of sleepy-time tea, and a nice long warn relaxing bath, soothing music, burn a candle,If you are a christian you can pray.I take Melatonin in 3 mg.it is inexpensive and it is all natural. good luck!

hm.. if "thinking" is the cause of your problem from sleeping, then.. try writing your thoughts down in a journal. When it's all in writing, it kind of helps stop you from thinking about it so much. Another way is to try drinking some warm milk. It helps get you to sleep.

hmmmm. okay. some older methods are... drink some milk before bed. it doesn't have to be warm. just milk in general. also you can do some form of mental exercise before bed. like just take deep breaths and clear your mind. just imagine somewhere peaceful with no worries. also... if yoru doin any workouts or any physical activity do it an hour or two before bed.

See insomnia at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 3, and practise one of the relaxation methods on page 2 in bed, after lights out.
