its just a way to show that you are old enough for military service in case they ever reinstitute the draft you have to fill it out its the law but its not enlisting you

The selective service is an organization that maintains records of individuals eligible to be drafted. WHEN the government re-instates the draft, the selective service gives those names to the government so you can serve your country like a good little boy.

when u turn 18, if ur male, it is the law that u register for the selective service, the draft doesnt exist, but they wanna know ur out there. no, its not a branch of service, just a pool of names to b kept on file, it was started during the vietnam war to identify potential draftees.

It basically makes a head count of all the males who turn 18. They do this so that, in there would be a draft, they would know who to call. Don't worry tho, there won't be one. It's not a military brach and you are required by law to fill it out and return it.

You can dodge the selective service by emigrating from the United States and becoming a citizen of a foreign country.

I registered at the post office.
Make sure you get a receipt. A friend claims to have registered. Not sure if he did. But, since he failed to register, his not entitled to student loans. Not sure of all the negative things that can happen, but it's not worth it.

It make syou elgible for the DRAFT. Not saying you will go but if your country needs you ,you cant undo it. Its for men aonly kinda sucks huh? but its an unjust world.
