Run for time. Buy a good running watch like a Timex Ironman. Run for 30-40 minutes 5-6 days a week. You may have to build up slowly to be able to run for that long so don't worry about starting off slow and running short distances. During or after some of your runs, pick up speed and mix in some sprints. Mix fast days with recovery days. Try to run on soft terrain like grass or a dirt trail.

Go to a gym like the YMCA and lift weights. You want to build muscle because that helps you burn more calories and fat all day long. You may need somebody to introduce you to the exercises. Lift for 8-12 repetitions. When you can do an exercise for more than 12 reps, increase the weight. Lift 1 to 2 days per week. If you do these you'll lose that weight.

Without knowing your age and fitness level it's hard to answer specifically. Generally, if you start an exercise program such as running, you don't want to cut back too much on eating - you gotta have fuel to burn. But in general terms, eating healthier foods is a plus.

Change your lifestyle and do this forever. Drink lots of water, walk, run, or swim an hour every day except 1 then do stretching and upper body toning. Eat fruits & vegetables.

No alcohol
no bread
no burgers
No candy
No chips
no corn
no fried foods
No pasta
No pizza
No potatoes
No sodas
No sugar

Good Luck

PS: Stay off the scales for a month. Exercise builds muscle which weighs more than fat. Look more for visible signs - slimming, etc.

Your question is too open ended. without knowing your body type, your fitness level currently. Your current diet, and schedule it is nearly imossible to gauge a response. however, stick to the idea of crawl, walk, then run. Don't try to start by jumping head first into dieting harshly, and killing yourself at the gym, that is the surest way to failure ( next to not trying at all of course!!). first you need to find your resting heart rate, then fund your BMI and your fat percentage. this is the best way tro find out what you have to do in order to loose weight as well as get fit within any excercise plan. Once you are on a comfortable steady diet, then you can start your excercising. If you have trouble running then walk briskly for a while unitl that becomes incredibly easy, then lightly jog unitl that too becomes easy, and of course eventuallly you will be able to run before you know it. Apply the crawl, walk run theory will help to set you up for success. As far as dieting.... figure out your fitness plan then find the ffods within that plan that you already enjoy eating, suppliment that with the foods that you could don't care as much about, in time you will see improvements. The main focus should be motivation!!! Hope this helps!!!

Eat right. Look up your BMR and eat that many calories or 100 less. Run, a lot. If your out of shape start slow. Try to cover at least 2 mi. a day in the begining- even if you have to walk most of it. Try and decrease your time each time. Good luck!

Some good 'tips'.
Eat lots of Fiber (fruits, vegetables, whole grains).
Try to eat as 'Natural' as possible (avoid enriched grains, white sugar, chemicals)
Avoid HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (the stuff is EVIL)
Drink Lots of Water.
Take a Multi-vitamin.
Add weight training to any aerobic (running) regime you commit to.
Good Luck!
