Get rid of all the clutter and things you don't play with anymore. The less stuff you have, the easier it will be to keep the rest put away neatly. Time for the Polly Pockets and Barbies can find a new home. Clean out the closets until you have room to put away the things you use daily. Make space to get all of your shoes and your laundry hamper in the closet.
Flip through some decorating & lifestyle magazines to see what you find relaxing. If your folks don't have a bunch, try the library (or online). Here are some ideas (3 magazine sites, and a project):

Spa style is generally simple, with luxurious or comfortable touches. Strip your room down to the essentials first, and you might find that an easy change or two (bedcover in a nice mocha shade, simple lamps) makes a big impact.
The space alone won't create the relaxation. Learning how to bring calm to yourself through relaxation techniques, meditation, or prayer is a life-long skill for de-stressing!

A real pretty pale purple, or pale yellow, and lots of white, would be soothing, maybe add some paintings of flowers to your walls. Do you have a ceiling fan? If not, ask your parents for one, (a white one) they are pretty inexpensive, these days. Also, I'm not sure how your parents will feel about a candle, maybe they would feel more comfortable with you using a candle warmer.
Maybe just set out in your back yard, close your eyes, and think of what ever it is, that relaxes you, then, try to add what you can to your room. Make it your own little oasis!! Good luck! :~)

1] get rid of everything you don't need, and find [ preferably hidden] storage for everything else. [ underbed bins, shelf dividers for closet, milk crates for sports gear, etc.]
2] light to middle tones are most relaxing. Try a print for bedding and drapes, and pick the color you like best for the walls. Add bed and chair pillows or rug in that or a second color from the print.
3] make sure you have at least one comfy chair to read or study in.
4] add candles, maybe potpourri, relaxing paintings, posters, or prints, photos of favorite people, vase for flowers.
5] make sure everything you leave out is pretty. It will make a big difference!

I find a nice sage green to be relaxing. Add lots of candles, a nice fluffy comforter and LOTS of pillows. And something that I didn't know when I was 12 was that when looking for sheets for your bed, the higher the thread count the better.(It will say on the front of the package.) I know you're at the mercy of your mom's checkbook so ask her for some help and I bet she'll be more than happy to help you pick stuff out.

oooh! Soft colors like lilac with swirls of others. Maybe a baby blue color. Put canopy drapes (can be purchased at IKEA) to hang from the ceiling over your bed. Buy pillows, pillows, pillows. You can place some on the floor around your bed. One little vase wtih your favorite flower. An aroma therapy candle in a hurricane vase (Large). Dont forget curtains. I don't recommend sheer because your room will stay bright in the mornings when you're trying to sleep in.
Good luck with your decision.

All the other advice above is good. I also find that adding plants and flowers can be relaxing. Also, i find indirect lighting to be more soothing to the eyes. Bright lights can give me headaches. i like a light fixture that I can adjust the brightness of the light. Keep everything simple, clean and clutter free.

my room is blue and brown and i have white sheets and PLENTY of fat bed pillows. forget about having just two. I have SIX. and i have real nice curtains, and pretty crystal lamps that are real sparkly on both sides of the bed. i have an alarm clock/radio/cd that also makes 6 different sounds: birds, water, rain, etc. i have BEAUTIFUL pictures on my walls but NO clutter.
hang up you clothes, put your stuff away so that nothing shows. keep your closet doors SHUT. and lastly, get youself some lavender smelling stuff. candles -- no need to light them. good candles smell good without lighting them., it's too dangerous if you fall asleep. (one of my friends parents where almost killed by falling asleep with candles that touched the curtains)

the most relaxing of colors are blue and green... so if u like these colors, then use them in yr room... both or only one... use other neutral color just to keep the variation and interest, maybe like white or cream! use the blue or green in lighter tints and soft dull tones for large areas like walls... use darker and brighter degrees for accents and accessories...
remove any clutter and keep it simple...
also use midium neutral lighting, like incandescent white light... don't use anything harsh...
but most of all... try having the right attitude... maybe some yoga or breathing exercises or meditation can do... nice music...!
just have fun and good luck!

it style of feels vivid and cheery sufficient. It relies upon on the guy's style and gender. rather, i do no longer think of a twelve year previous boy would take excitement in effortless, vivid shade contrasts like that. it style of feels greater properly suited with a woman (reckoning on their variety) through comfortable femininity of the tournament. be conscious that the twelve year previous would rather develop out of his/her shade tastes in a count of a year or greater and what they say they like now would be thoroughly diverse from what they'll like as they progression into their teenage years.
