Of course I know that there's only 2 alive ones. But do you think that while they were a band, in the 60s, that they were a bad influence on children, teens, and people who were fans?

No. If the Beatles hadn't stepped up to the plate we'd still have all the old fashioned no human rights crap. The change that happened in the 60's gave us a chance to live the way we wanted to and not be determined by what the elders think is right.
I know that sounds a little harsh, but if you seriously want to go back to woman being stay at home moms, wearing long skirts to school, being the ultimate baby making machines, being homophobic retards, and all of us being controlled by old traditions and religions, be my guest. I'm sure Hitler has an opening for you.
Oh, and Jesus is more popular than John Lennon because all the old fashioned oldies think that peace is blowing up heathens in far off barbaric countries for oil. Anything BESIDES that would have to be the BAD stuff.

Thank you.

P.S. The Beatles ROCK, FYI.

They did encourage the drug culture, but on the whole their message was one of love and peace, and the music was fabulous! They influenced me to:

1. Learn to play the guitar and write songs.
2. View others with more compassion.
3. Think more deeply about world events.
4. Strive for greater awareness.

They did not motivate me to:

1. Harm a living soul.
2. Commit any crime.
3. Hate or judge anyone.
4. Condemn or suppress free expression.

No one is perfect, but overall, I believe that the Beatles were a good influence on their fans and the world at large.

I'm sitting here listening to "Love" the Beatle tribute by Cirque du Soliel.
They absolutely changed me so much for the better. When I was 12 and they came to the U.S.,I was flattened and never the same.I didn't participate in drugs or eastern religion ,any of that.I love them as the greatest song writers of ALL TIME!as well as the best performers...the whole 9 yards.
I got to see McCartney in concert in Las Vegas last year and it was(I have seen them all except the Beatles in concert.I've seen the Stones ,Beach Boys,Cream, etc)the BEST SHOW I HAVE ever seen, bar none. And I'm a 54 year old father of 4.My lucky wife saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in 64,when she was 10.She has practically no memory of it she went with her older sister but she does have the stubs.
The Beatles are a bad influence if you have bad tendencies and vice versa

Even when they were all alive, the band broke up in 1969 or 70. At that time, John was seeking a socialist utopia, Ringo was going solo and not philosophical, George was trying to combine Christianity with Hinduism or Buddhism, and Paul was just writing more inane lyrics.
No, not a bad influence.

I STILL think they should join Townsend and Daltry to form the Whoatles!

I think they are like anyone: in some ways a bad influence, in some ways a good influence.

To other responders, two are dead, they broke up a good generation ago, but they are also immortal in a way.

bad influence on who? Rock music...NO WAY! anyone right now...probably not since almost all of them are dead. Or are referring to the actual bug. Then I would say yes because all they do is keep bumping into the nearest light, trying to fly into someones house until they get squished. No one needs to have that as a role model.

When i was a kid, they made me want to grow my hair long, which my dad hated!!
Looking back 40 years later, i can see the emptiness that made up much of their lives.
Their influence was, for a time, very great. But that time is long past.

Most musicians who have had great social impacts were thought of as bad influences by those that did not understand them; but that doesn't mean that they were.

Yes, they promoted the recreational use of drugs and were arrested when trying to enter Japan once and were deported.

They also followed Eastern religions leading people away from Jesus.

John Lennon once said, "the Beatles are more popular than Jesus Christ"

Well John, who is more popular now?
