According to Catholic tradition, their names were Anne and Joachim. Their legend states that they were a childless couple, and Joachim was mocked by his fellow priests. He was not permitted to perform certain priestly duties because of his childless state.

However, he was told by an angel (some versions say by God Himself) that Anne would bear a daughter who would be the mother of the Messiah. Anne and Joachim raised Mary until she was 12, according to the story, and then she was taken to the Temple to study Holy Scripture and to serve God.

The feast day of St. Anne and St. Joachim is July 26th.

Better yet, Romans 1:3and 4, "Concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.4) And declared to be the Son of God according to the Spirit of Holiness, by the Resurrection from the dead". This kind of sounds like Joseph was his fleshly father. And perhaps God his spiritual Father only after his resurrection. Hey but Rome explained it all away. We are stupid and can not read for ourselves. Sorry to point this little detail out, but I'm a heretic.
