I help to choose the music at my my church: What songs help you connect spiritually? Do you think you are more progressive or more conservative? How old are you?

(I am purposely not stating a denomination - I would like to hear a wide variety of serious responses)

Thanks!

I love "We Exalt Thee" and "Shout to the Lord." "Now is the Time to Worship" is another favorite of mine, and Lindley Cooley's "I Need You" reduces me to tears every single time I sing it or hear it.

I'm actually pretty conservative, which isn't surprising, considering that I just turned 54 last month. And just FYI, I'm Roman Catholic.

My church mostly uses classical music. I prefer that. I work with the church music, and am not in any hurry to see us "go modern". I suppose that church music is one of the few things I'm conservative about. We use works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Haydn, and other classical composers. I also like some traditional hymns, like "Deck Thyself, My Soul, With Gladness", "Crown Him With Many Crowns", "Go To Dark Gethsemane", "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" and so forth. At Christmas, I like doing "Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming", especially in the original German. You asked about age...I'm in my early 20s.

I am 25, I am a pastor at my church and my wife is the P & W leader there. We sing mostly Hillsong, Hillsong United, Passion, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, David Crowder, Israel, Houghton, and we try to throw a hymn in there but we make it sound a little more moddern. We have hymnal books but I don't think we have openend them in quite a while.

How about the The Flying Spaghetti Monster Sing-A-Long

Let the noodles fall on me to set me free
and let me believe in the power of Spagetti
Let him fly into your heart and then you can start to see
How the noodles of his wisdom come down to you and me
