Look at history dude. THe Irish have suffered at the hands of the occupying English for over 1000 years!! The colonial English have gone everywhere and made a complete mess of the world. In Ireland it even became illegal for Catholics to own land under Oliver Cromwell. Ireland wasnt even independant until 1936....90% of the worlds problems can be traced back to colonialisim.....Iraq/Palestine/S.E. Asia/ the list goes on and on....Down with England!!!

It is as the others have said, history.
The english for some reason, thought that Ireland was theirs to take and use as they ( the Kings and their men) liked.
Also England assumed that Ireland was 'part' of England, under English laws, and Government. This could be seen as kind of colonisation by sneeky ways.
During Irelands past, the people have tried through peaceful and not so peaceful ways (IRA) to become free of English rule, and govern themselves. In the last few years the Irish have seen the light, where by the english Government and the Irish IRA political arm have been working closer together.
In parts of Ireland for the most part, you wouldn't think there was anything wrong, people just get on with their lives. But in other parts, older parts of Belfast, for example, there are families that can't forget the terrible things the English did. The British Armies treatment of protestors in the 70's and even till today were/are unforgivable. People died begging for freedom and home rule! Hope this history lesson helps

I'm English, I don't hate the Irish.
I used to have an Irish friend, until she moved to a different part of England and we got along fine.
It's the first I've heard of it . . . I didn't know that the English were meant to hate the Irish and vice-versa.
Now, the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland really DO hate each other.

Yeah, like the person before said, any hate is to do with history - there isn't really so much open hate anymore...
