Are you sure it was full? My daughter took 16 aspirin once, and just got a little high. She was laughing a lot. I took her to her doctor and he made her throw up, and boy was she ever sick for 2 days. Was your friend trying to commit suicide? Well, she got a good warning from above. Suicide is the most selfish thing a peson can do to all her friends and family who love her. It would ruin all their lives forever. And tell her that no matter what her religion is, suicide is a sin. Even if she's not religious, that's pretty scary. Whatever her problem(s) may be, she should be thankful for the things she has. So many people are dying of Aids, have no food or shelter, and have no family left. The ibuprofin didn't work because it wasn't her time. Everything happens for a reason. If she has depression, get her to a doctor. There are so many great meds that really work today. In just a couple weeks her world will change. Everything will be bright and happy as they should be. These meds don't make you high or goofy, they just adjust the seratonin in the brain. She owes it to herself, her friends, and her family to get to the doctor ASAP. Please help your friend. It'll be one of the best things you'll ever do in your life. Good luck to you and your friend. :)

Not good at all. If you are unable to wake him then you need to call 911 immediately. Edit: That is a very good question. I never knew NyQuil contained alcohol. I'm guessing he took the liquid form. How much NyQuil did the whole bottle contain? Well, the thing to really worry about would be the acetaminophen. This is often overdosed on and is quite serious. The other ingredients aren't quite as serious. When overdosing on acetaminophen the symptoms will start gradually. Normally with upset stomach, nausea, and sweating. If it gets to the point where his skin turns yellowish (jaundice) then the drug has started to affect his liver which can then result in liver damage or failure. Even the whites of his eyes can start turning yellow as well as the nail beds.

Your friend will be just fine. It didn't work because there is not enough in a bottle to do much more than make you very sleepy. It's why you don't need a prescription or have to ask for it specifically from a pharmacist. Even if it was enough, your body would reject it through a nice mess of vomiting diarrhoea, and other nasty things. She may develop an Ulster or intestinal problem, or even liver damage eventually especially if she keeps trying. She needs help to get through her teen years probably from a councillor. It's very common for teenage women to become depressed. Tell her to hang in there life dose get better, and the sad rainy cloud over your head does disappear when you hit your 20's.

I wouldn't be asking "why didn't it work" I'd be asking where the hell can I get help for this friend who seems intent on hurting herself! Taking a whole bottle is not something that happens by accident, it sounds like she wanted to do herself some harm.
Don't stand by and let this young woman have another go. Get in contact with the Mental Health in your area, and tell them what is going on. They are the ones to help her, and it truly sounds like she needs it!

just because she had no side effects immediately doesn't mean it didn't harm her. I would seek medical attention for sure. And if she took it a lot for headache and so on quite a few times before, she may have had a built up tolerance to ibuprofen. I definitely would have her see a doctor though.

She may seem ok, but her liver may be damaged. Either way I think she needs to see some kind of doctor.

...yet...

Her organs won't be too happy and she won't feel very good tomorrow and in the coming days. That's for sure. If she did that, she really needs a doctor's care.

She will feel really bad but you see a doctor just in case.

Ibuprofen won't kill you like that. At most she will end up with an upset stomach.
