It doesn't matter what you claim the numbers are, those who support the war, will support it as long as they feel they agree with it, those who don't agree with it, will keeping disagreeing with it. Asking this question is the same as them asking you why you don't just agree with them because you don't believe the same. Where is freedom of choice if everyone is expected to just agree with the other side when they have more people on their side?

You obviously do not support the war, some do. Personally, I was in the military and I have just distanced myself from forming a strong opinion on the just or un-justness of the war. I do not know all the facts, I do not have all the true and unquestionable information, so I cannot say with certainty if I believe it is right or wrong. What I WILL do, and will keep doing with every breath I have on this planet, is to support our troops. Weather you agree with the war or not, you owe it to the U.S. Military personnel to support them and hope they return safely.

When a new President is elected and he or she makes a decision, I will support them as the elected leader of this country, as I do President Bush, and as I shall for every president elected in this country. I would like to see the troops pulled out of Iraq, I know what a hellhole that country is, and my best friend is there right now. He has not seen his son who was born 3 days after he left, and by the time he gets back, his son will be 15 months old. Can you imagine that, not knowing or holding your son for more than the first year of his life?

I know I strayed a bit from your subject, so here is your straight answer. Those who support the war will not just "listen to the majority" as you say they should, because they don't have to, they have every right to make their choice on what they support and stand by it. We would not have the life we can have in this country if it were otherwise.

There is no way to prove 70% of Americans are against the war without polling every single American citizen with a straight foward "Do you support the war? Yes or no" question.

The fact is, these polling companies that conduct these polls do two things.

First, they conduct their "random" polls in areas with a demographic that will support their aims.

Second they ask extremely slanted questions. They might ask the question "Do you believe George Bush made mistakes in how he handled Iraq? Yes or no". Even war supporters believe he made a mistake, so they'd answer yes along with the anti-war people. In reality, the polling company will mark the people who answer "Yes" as being against the war and the people who answer "No" as being for the war.

Partial polls and slanted questions do not give me much faith in any poll. In fact, if I took the time to think out the questions and poll the few thousand people these polls poll (a few thousand out of how many Americans?)...I could come up with a poll that shows 70% of Americans support the war.

If a majority thinks the Earth is flat, does that make it true? The militant Islamists aren't going to stop causing trouble around the world (as they have for hundreds of years) just because we pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan. It has little to do with religion, it has to do with gaining power over others at the muzzle of a gun, and that's what they will continue to do unless they are stopped. I'm glad some of my tax money is going to fund a worthwhile good vs evil fight instead of a $400 toilet seat (though I have faith we'll hear more of that sort of fiasco soon enough).

They won't listen then either, because they make too much money from the war.

And whoever said that the loonies would come here is wrong, they don't hate us for what we have, they hate us for getting into their business. Let them do what they want, quit being the world police, we have no responsibility to anyone other than our own citizens.

Who cares to listen? War supporters are busy encashing the side effects of the war. Gas companys make billions simply by propaganda and fear psychosis.

Because that's 70% of those who yell the loudest, not the real American feeling. Noone asked me in this "poll." Polls and stats can ALWAYS be manipulated.
