Chris:
You are presumptuous-how do you know you will lie dying (i.e. deathbed)- you could die instantly in a car wreck, heart attack,etc.etc.etc. and not have time for your delayed repentance (assuming you do repent of a sinful life as we are born with the sin nature)-the bible says "Now is the accepted time...."key word here is "now" (while you have life that can be gone in an instance and you are then spending eternity with satan, not our holy God)-
Your Q implies you know you need to repent but you are putting it off. The Holy spirit is right now dealing with your emortal soul-the bible says if man hardens his heart (think Pharoah of Egypt when he held the Israelites in bondage and would not let them go)-comes a time when the Holy Spirit will no longer deal with us and we have condemned ouselves. God never never sends us to hell-we make the choice-the choice is ours, choose you, now, to repent and you will know peace for all eternity even while here on earth.
I didn't want Jesus running my life and kept putting it off and thank God He allowed trial after severe trial to get my attention until I was suicidal and cried out in repentance and confessing my sins and I know when I die, even if it is at the center of a bomb drop,I will be instnatly in heaven. Remember the thief on the cross who repented and Jesus told him "this day you will be with me in paradise)-this sinner had lived a life of a thief, etc. yet believing on Jesus,he was saved for eternity.
You may not have that last minute, that deathbed chance-don't let satan, the father of lies, delude you into putting off the choice yhou MUST make now. We could die in the next second! Please make that decision if you are sincere and not just asking this question just to be asking.!

You got a bunch of good answers, so I'll just add a little bit. You could repent on your deathbed, but if that was your plan all along, would you really feel remorse? A sin that you are not remorseful for can't be forgiven. That's the very definition of the unforgivable sin, one that you won't repent of and let God heal. On the other hand if a violent criminal feels genuine remorse at his evil deeds, he can and will be forgiven. I can't go so far as saying that allows him into heave or not; that's something only God knows.

To ask the question "If" is very dangerous. What if your death was quickly? Oh well! So much for this thought!
Are you telling me, that you are wanting to continue a life of sin, until it comes time for you to die!
If you are not sorry in your heart now for your sins, and feel the love of God through Jesus. Then what makes you think you will on your deathbed?
Personally I say! Dont hold your breath!
As to whether you go to hell or heaven, is not a decision I can make!

The most high-profile death bed / last-minute conversion to Christ in the Bible is the case of the criminal crucified alongside Jesus (Luke 24:39-43). Only moments before his own death, this criminal had been an unbelieving mocker of Christ (see Matthew 27:44). However, at the last moment the criminal repented and acknowledged Jesus as the heavenly King. The Lord gave him the blessed promise, “Today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
Although the story of the criminal on the cross demonstrates that last-minute conversions are possible, the Bible warns us to repent now, without waiting another moment. John the Baptist warned, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:2). Jesus had the identical message concerning the need for immediate repentance, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).
The Bible warns us concerning the brevity of the human lifespan. “You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away” (James 4:14). We are not instructed to consider converting someday, but to believe today! “Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 3:7-8, 14; 4:7). None of us knows how much time we have left in this life or what the circumstances of our death will be. We may die in a sudden, unexpected manner that will preclude a deathbed conversion. The only reasonable option is to repent and believe in Jesus Christ today.
Many people die without having the experience of an extended amount of time on a death bed. Many people die instantly and unexpectedly, with no opportunity to trust in Christ. 2 Corinthians 6:2 declares, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."

God is merciful and long suffering, not wishing that any should perish but that all should repent and come to a saving knowledge of the truth.
If you are lying on your death bed and you suddenly become aware that the gaping door of all eternity stands before you and that you are about to go on that long ride all alone. If you realize that you have lived a sinful life and that judgment awaits you. If you realize that you need Jesus to save you before it is too late and you call out to God and ask Him to forgive you and for Jesus to save you with the weight of true conviction upon your heart then you will go to Heaven because it is the Spirit of God who is giving you one last chance.
If on the other hand you are lying on your death bed and thinking
"Hmm... I wonder if there really is a God and if I'll end up going to Hell if I don't repent of my sins?
I know! Just to play it safe I'll pretend like I believe in Him and since I'm not going to have much of a chance to commit all of the sins that I like to commit anyway, I'll tell Him that I repent of my sins so that I can get a free ticket to Heaven just in case there is a Heaven and a Hell".
Then NO, you will not be on your way to Heaven.
2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, without regret; but worldly sorrow produces death.
Godly sorrow means you realize that you have sinned against God and feel convicted by the Spirit of God. Worldly sorrow means that you are sorry that you have to suffer consequences in this life because you got caught doing something that was wrong.

If that's a confession from the heart of course! One of the prisioners next to Jesus at the cross repented of his sins right there and Jesus was waiting for him in paradise. But why would you wait till the last minute? Would you take that chance? You don't know what you are missing and you also have to keep in mind that there will be degrees of reward in heaven and degrees of punishments in Hell, if I were you, if you are still on your sins I would receive Jesus in your heart.
God Bless!

All things are possible with God. It has happened .The truth is that to be saved you must really be sorry for your sins. Your repentence must be from the heart. It certainly appears that you are not sorry or repentent for your sin if you are consciously planning on continuing in sin til your deathbed. I believe this parable applies to you even though you are talking about storing up sin rather than fruit and goods.
Luke 12:16-20 And he( Jesus) spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
You never know when your number is up. Come to Christ now before its too late.... Cap'n Arlo

If you sincerely do so, God loves and accepts you. He knows your heart. God is truly merciful and gracious and wouldn't do otherwise. However, we don't all have a 'deathbed' moment. It can happen suddenly and without warning. God calls each one to come to Him and we cannot think we'll always have a last chance.
I searched for answers as a kid and in my early teens and it wasn't until I let God speak to my heart that it finally made sense. Having God in my life changed everything and I began to understand him more and more. It is a step of faith, but He will never let you down when you seek Him.

No because salvation doesnot come from repentence, it comes from faith in Jesus Christ and the confession of Him as your Lord. On your deathbed it is difficult to say "You are my Lord from now on", when there is no "from now on". Only God would be able to judge the intention of your heart and determine if you really have made Him the Lord of your life or not.

No. It is not the repentance of sin that gets you into heaven. it is the acceptance of the lord Jesus Christ as your personal saviour that gets you into heaven. I am a christian who has excepted God into my heart and i don't know if i will be able to be forgiven of all my sins be for i die but it is the fact that i am a "born again Christian" that gets me into heaven.
