If youre talking about a preschool:
I would look for a clean, organized environment. Different "learning stations." ie- building blocks, dress up, art, etc. Structured playtime as well as free time. A small teacher to student ratio. healhy snacks at snack time. an safe outdoor park.
for elementary schools and up: small teacher to student ratios, a snack and a lunch break appropriately spaced. healthy lunch/snack options. schools that have lots of fundraisers often do more fieldtrips and hands on learning- as they have more money to do that- so look for that too.
my kids arnt in elementary school yet- so im not much help there though...

I am looking for a school that doesnt just focus on academic achievement. I want my children to have a full education. I am lucky our local school is small but well equipped. The children learn to swim early on as the school has its own pool and because the school is small there is no over crowding of classes. You have to look into curriculum and the phlosophies of the school. Its about what you want your children to get out of it early on because as they get older they will only get out what they want.

You look for how the studies are, what are the main majors that are taken there you also look where the school is located, how safe it is and all the landmarks in between. Hope this helps

i would look up the district website, they list the ratings for each school and testing scores so you would know which school is better. i would also make sure the school was in a safe area. thank goodness you can get out of district transfers if you don't like your options near you!
