Hanging around the R&S section like a bunch of hate-filled joyless delinquents? Shouldn't they be out on the town blaspheming and building shrines to Darwin?

Gazoo. If atheism is that well versed then it must be a religion in itself.

You atheists condemn us each day for our beliefs and whine about hell like you're worried. If you are, learn about Jesus, or buy plenty of fire retardent outerwear, because a life of rejecting God leads to God rejecting you. I'll pray that you all find God before it's too late!

V Dezzed, you're surrounded by judges. Perhaps YOU should listen to a preacher!

Skeptic, you may amuse yourself with blasphemous humor tonight, yet your very life may be required this night. What would you say to the Most High if he were to ask you why you had rejected Him?

Eri, if reading is still fundamental for you: READ MY PROFILE! I've been to college. I have a career. All because God chose to spare me and use me in a way that only He knows. Let His Will be done!

I think that they probably feel that all of the hate-filled, joyless intolerance heaped on them by religious zealots throughout the ages is good enough reason.

Remember: for every pious, sanctified, and holy thing that you THINK you do, you are blaspheming someone else's religion. Are you so arrogant to think that YOU are perfect and know everything, and all other sects and religions are WRONG? Because that, in itself, is the sin of Pride. Only God knows everything, and if you claim that you speak for Him, you are what is known as a False Prophet.

This is such a common question and it's amazing to me that it's even asked. My response to the believers is:

You should be glad that Atheists are on here.

Do you not have compassion in your heart? Do you not believe that their very souls are in danger of forever being burned in hellfire? Well, this is your chance to be a good believer and reach out; or are you only concerned with preaching to the choir?

I believe that you are on here for the best of reasons - you love your faith and believe it will save you and others.

Haven't you ever really wondered why Atheists are on here as well?

They, like you, believe there is probably no more important question in the world than "Is there a God?"

So why would you be upset if they were just trying to test themselves to see if there really is a good reason to believe? You should be glad (unless you are happy with the thought of souls burning in hell, which I believe you are not.)

But Atheists have good intentions as well (even though they may not always show it). Imagine for a moment that they are right and there is no God...

Then religious wars, scaring children with threats of hell, and persecution of homosexuals were all just a shameful waste. Moreover, look at the atrocities caused by the beliefs of groups like the Catholic church that teaches AIDS ridden areas of Africa and the Americas that condom use is a sin. They are (at least partly) responsible for the loss of innocent life. Believers spend more time worshiping their imaginary friend then they do caring about real issues like alleviating poverty, or doing something about the great problems this planet faces. With that in mind, the best thing atheists could be doing is trying to introduce people to a logical way of thinking and overcome their superstitions.

Also, consider what you asking this question really says... if you are worried about people who question your belief system, maybe you are not all that secure in your beliefs. If your beliefs are logical, then answer their questions; it shouldn't be an issue.

Ultimately, what matters is who is right (if any of us), and how do we know that.

If you wish to know more about the damage that religion causes, I suggest you read "The End of Faith," and "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris.

EDIT: I would say "Not enough evidence."

Wow - that's a whole lot of anger there. If the Atheists bother you that much, than head off to a Christian chat site. Otherwise, buck up. R&S isn't just for those who have a religion or a spiritual side, it is for those who do not believe such things exist.

If you don't like to be challenged or can't act right when you are, then go elsewhere. It really is a simple fix and you might be happier.

Then again, you might not be happier.

Either way, get over yourself.

Well, after being raised in christianity I do feel I have the right to voice my opinion on what I don't agree with it. I've never told any christian they shouldn't believe; that is their choice. Since the line between politics and religion gets more and more blurred with every passing year I feel I have the right to voice my opinions, just as you do.

Aside from which, I find my spirituality in nature, music and the human race and if I am seeing my screen correctly, the name of the forum is Religion & Spirituality.

Ahh, Thank you for kickstarting my night. Hola Jose! *drinks*

Anyway, *goes into a monotone, rehearsed voice* atheists are here because, as they obviously have a preference, they care about religion an spirituality, they just have come to different conclusions about the answers. They also are likely to have questions which have never been answered for them in ways that make sense, which is why they are atheists. They have as much of a right to be here as anyone else, and are hardly hate-filled or joyless.

I suspect they are on this site for the same reason we, Christians, are and that is to witness for our beliefs. I use this forum to give out correct information and offer choices coupled with their consequences. If we neglect to give them the correct information it leaves the way open for Satan to proliferate his lies with out being challenged. They are seeking what God is offering but they are not ready to commit to Him yet so they throw their little barbs which we should count as blessings for it means that they are listening. So keep on keeping on. We have already won the war these are just battles of wits and fortunately our side has all of the wits. Wit God all things are possible. Wit out God there is no life.

Yeah, WE'RE the hate-filled ones. When's the last time an atheist condemed you to an imaginary fire pit? When's the last time they told you they 'hate the sin'?

You've got a lot to learn - but that's ok, you're still obviously about 12. You'll make it to college some day. Until then, you'll be hanging out with the other trolls.

Why do certain Christians hang around R&S like a bunch of hate filled joyless deliquents? Shouldn't they be out actually learning about their religion?

There are dozens of incorrect assumptions and generalizations that people spread on this site about people like me. The least you can do is give me the opportunity to respond to them. I'm sure you'd want to do the same.
