Get into it nice and gradually. Don't rush anything. You've got years and years of good running ahead of you. What's the phrase - "Walk before you run"? Take the summer and slowly increase your pace, and see a doctor if you have any problems.

I assume you run for a school team of some sort. So you have a couple of months to improve before things get a little bit serious. That's great -- there's no immediate hurry.

Thats great that your not giving up on running and your starting as soon as could. I think you should walk about 30 minutes a day and gradually each day build your walk to a fast walk, slow jog, jog, run, and then get rught back where you left off. Just start out easy and build your endurence and pretty soon you will be able to run a whole 5k not just run but you will be able to race. I think about once every 2 weeks you should participate in a 5k race, just so you get back in running. you dont have to do a 20 minute 5k right now or anything just go your own pace, even just run or jog with some friends. and build every week. You will be back to your regular running routine in no time. I hope this helped

You should start with walking at a brisk pace and then gradually jogging for at least 15 minutes. You should start with running 1-2 miles the first week. If you feel good you should then move on to three miles the next week. Remember to keep a comfortable pace ( so that you are able to talk). Stretch before and after you run. The first month should be very easy and don't over do it. Try to run every day and choose a day to rest (preferably Sunday). Try not to run more than 5 miles a day the first month. Do it if you feel really comfortable but otherwise don't exceed this mark because your body will get really tired and you will feel like quitting. Remember to take it easy the first month.

Take it easy in the beginning
Go running twice a week for 15-20 minutes.
Gradually increase it to 3 times and do it longer. Remember to stop if you don't feel well and have pains.

Well I'm sure you know to take it gradually, and start easy. Other than that, you really already know all you need to get started, it will come back to you when you get out there. Good luck
