Can't you get carpal tunnel from doing any repetitive motion with your hands/fingers often?

My wrist hurts very badly off and on and it didnt start until I began text messaging on my cell phone more often....my sister and I also saw something about it on the news a few months ago..is that true?

If you text with your thumbs it could be de Quervain's Syndrome. It's a repetitive injury and cause great pain in the wrist. I had it so bad and it was very painful. But I had surgery to repair it and now I don't have any problems with it. It's a small incision in the wrist & they cut the sheath over that thumb tendon & it relives the pain. You can get a splint and immobilize the wrist or thumb (you need to figure out which one is actually bothering you) for two weeks. Take breaks & stretch you hands, fingers, wrists, etc every so often. You certainly don't want to damage your hands & have to have surgery or physical therapy. Good luck.

you can get carpel tunnel from doing just about anything repetitive with your hands. When you over use that nerve it can be very painful try wearing wrist wraps at night when you sleep.
