So my dog pulled a muscle in his front leg playing outside today, and one of my girlfriends told me to try and give him a tylenol wrapped up in cheese to help with any pain or discomfort he may have...He is 52lbs so I know the dosage wont hurt him, but do you think it's safe for him to take at all??? Thanks

PLEASE do NOT give your dog Tylenol!!!!

Golden and DP are absolutely correct!!! You will be doing MUCH more harm than good! Your best bet is to not give him anything, instead see how he does tomorrow. Expect him to be sore tomorrow morning. If he is still in pain at this time tomorrow I advise that you call your vet on Monday. Your vet can prescribe an anti-inflammatory like Deramaxx or Rimadyl. Those meds are made for pooches, unlike Tylenol.

He should see a vet if he is injured, but if you still want to relieve his pain, don't give him Tylenol, because apparently it can be harmful. When my dog got arthritis, our vet recommended Aspirin, up to twice daily. He was on it for two years and it helped wonderfully. Go by his weight - for a 52lb dog I would think a half human dose would be proper, so one tablet. Our dog was 27lbs, and we'd give him half a regular tablet at a time in some wet dog food.

Do NOT give Tylenol to dogs..it is toxic!!!
Call your vet and they will advise you on the proper pain med for your dog.

Do not give asprin without consulting your vet first..while asprin is considered safe at the proper dosage for most dogs it isn't for all dogs.

People should NOT self medicate..doing so can do serious harm, even kill your dog.

No ! Tylenol is toxic and will KILL your dog.

If you give him enough to relieve pain, he will not get sick, he will die. I can't emphasize this enough.

Give him a massage or an ice pack on his leg. Then take him to the Vet next week. Don't self-medicate.

Absolutely not!

Try plain aspirin, or children's aspirin - use a child's dose. No tylenol.

If his condition worsens, take him to the vet.

No NO Tylenol for dogs. It can do serious harm to his liver and kidneys. Do nothing your dog will heal. If it's not better my morning have him seen by your vet.

No tylenol, no NSAIDS.. You shouldn't give him anything for the pain.. It's better if he feels it so he is more careful and not injuring it further til you can get to the vet. If you take away the pain, you haven't removed the problem, and he is going to further injure himself.. The tylenol and the NSAIDS are going to kill him.. Don't give him anything.

When my dog did something like this the vet told me to give him aspirin. NO TYLENOL noting but Aspirin. They told me one would be OK wouldn't hurt him at all. And you don't want your dog to be in pain, so i would try and give him one.
