Squinting can make your eyes hurt. It causes your eyes to become fatigued from straining them. After all, your eyes are muscle. You probably need glasses if you cannot see well from a distance. See an optometrist. Also, wear sunglasses in the bright sun, this will also help you keep from squinting.

Squinting helps you see better by making the rays of light moving into your eye more parallel, and therefore more easily focused. You should go to an eye doctor and get a checkup. This is not too expensive in itself. Once you have the lens prescription you can use an online service to buy inexpensive glasses.

Get your vision tested - people can squint because it narrows the field of vision and gives better visual acuity.
If you work with computers make sure you rest your eyes for at least 5 minutes an hour.
If you need to squint, your brain is making up the shortfall between stimuli and recognized stimuli - don't take chances with your vision - once it's damaged it's damaged it doesn't get better you can just prevent it getting worst.
good luck

By squinting, you're focusing your eyesight so you can temporarily see better. It won't hurt your eyes, but it WILL give you wrinkles. You need to see an optometrist or an ophthalmologist (eye doctors) to have your eyes examined to determine if you need glasses or contact lenses.

You should get your eyes examined and get glasses or contacts. If you are squinting to see, then it is a problem that can be fixed with corrective lenses.

Please don't take chances with your eyes. You could have simple eye strain, but you could also have an infection (like iritis or something else) that will become a problem if untreated. See an ophthalmologist.
