He sleeps in our bedroom closet which is very big, open and airy. What can I use as a home remedy (besides red pepper!) Maybe some kind of scent, so it wouldnt feel so inviting. I have a brand new hand-made comforter that I dont want to see covered with dog hair. Yes, I could cover it, but I shouldnt have to. Sorry....But I expect the same respect from my dogs as I do my children.

You have a few options. One is to keep your dog out of your room completely. You can put up a baby gate to keep him out and have a dog bed on the other side of the gate so that he still feels near you, but can't get on the bed. Since he's supposed to sleep in the closet, you can also keep him in by putting up a baby gate and taking it down when he is allowed out, so it kind of works like a crate. Another option is to get him a crate. You can put the crate next to your bed, so that he knows he's close to you. The last option I can think of is to teach him that he can't get on the bed, but he is allowed to sleep on the floor next to the bed. Try training him during the day; put a leash on him and when he jumps up, firmly say no. Say "off" and have him jump off the bed. Praise and reward when he stays on the floor. Repeat until you can take off the leash and just give the "off" command. I hope some of these options help you.

First and most important point a dog is a dog not a child
2. it should not be sleeping in your room unless it is invited.
3 loose the attitude you expect the same respect from your dog as your children you are having a laugh .
4 get off your high horse.
5 get a crate they are great i have 2 wonderful dogs yes they are dogs and are treated as such,i say bed they go in their crates and if you are wondering no they do not get locked in there unless they have misbehaved.
6 oh you probably use a crate for your children they should only be used for dogs the four legged kid
7 you could try sleeping in on yourself to test it out for your dog .

Everytime it jumps up take the leash and pull it off -- saying OFF. Takes patience but it works. Get a comfy dog beg and place it where he can see you - and this will be his new sleeping area. Close your closet door.

i suggest just getting a dog kennel. most dogs, after they get used to it, love going in the kennel! it also helps if there is a towel or blanket in it. for the first few nights the dog will probably bark and make noise, but after awhile he'll (or she'll) get used to it. when we got one of our puppies we automatically put him in a kennel his first night.

Everytime he jumps on the bed, you have to make him jump back off and say Off!

ONe thing you can do is get a penny can and shake it to startle him when he jumps up.
