God is One, but dearly loves variety. (example: He didn't just stop with a "flower". He made roses and daisies and nasturtium and cosmos and spider flower and chicory and hibiscus...........!!!)

Vedic or Sumarian religions are probably the origin of all religion, but of course how can we know such things when written records don't go back further than 3000bc.

Funny thing though..

Abraham's wife is Sarah
Brahma's consort is Sarasvati

'A Brahma'= Abraham.

Religion travelled accross cultures via stories passed down by chinese whispers through trading routes. That is why there are so many different stories that seem to have the same narrative.

In many cases there is influence of one tradition or culture on another, though in some cases the similarities are just similarities and nothing more. In some cases it was something inherited from a wider cultural influence (e.g. Mesopotamian stories in the Bible), in other cases it was through direct contact with and drawing on another religious tradition (e.g. Biblical stories in the Qur'an and other Islamic sources, and also the spread of Biblical stories throughout Africa as a result of missionary activity).

because most religions have brought the message of god through many prophets who shared the same belief in god. They have the same principles because they have been sent down from the same God. Many prophets were sent with different messages according to the time and the needs of that time. Each prophet from Adam the first man according to most religions up untill the last prophet Muhammed( gods peace and blessings be upon all of them)were sent to different nations for the guidance of all of mankind. The root of all these religions is the belief in one god. This life is a test and do what good you can while you are on this earth because we shall have to account for all our deeds on the day of judgement. When we will be returned to god and he will ask us what we did with our lives.

It is because they all came from the same God through his messengers, so obviously they are all going to have similar themes. As a Muslim we beleive that prophet Mohammad is the last messenger but we also beleive that Jesus is a messenger of God and that Moses is one too. They both received their message from God it is just that the latter two messages have been changed over time. This is why there are many similarities between the three because they all came from God.

Evolution and diversification of belief structures and mythic imagery from one of several ancient sources.

Proto-Indo-European mythological motifs influenced Northern European folk religions, Hinduism, even pre-Islamic Arabic polytheisms.

Canaanite polytheism, which became Judaism, was probably derived from Sumerian, Babylonian, and Egyptian beliefs.

Christianity derives from pagan "godman" traditions and mystery religions prevalent in the Mediterranean at the time of its synthesis.

And altruism is favored by evolution as a survival trait . . . so it shows up in a lot of belief systems.

Most of the roots are Pagan in origin and were corrupted and revised to fit other religions' purposes. The virgin birth (based on Mithras), resurrection, Easter (Ostara), to name a couple.

Gee, maybe it's because before God chose Abraham to be the father of His chosen people, people all over were aware of God and knew their history.
