I think you should. You use the bathroom and don't wash your hands, then you get your genital germs on your hands and then you go and touch a doorknob or something and those people will be forced to touch it too. It's pretty gross.

Only after is necessary, No bacteria can enter through your genital area that wouldn't be able to penetrate your skin, thats why you have an urethra, that is of course unless you are having sex in the bathroom, which is an extremely unsanitary practice. This would definitely leave you open to all sorts of possible bacterial and viral infections other than just STDs. But as far as normal bathroom practices are concerned you need only to wash your hands after using the bathroom.

Let me tell you, Andy, you should ALWAYS wash hands before, esp if you are a girl, because one time? I got a strep infection ...OF THE VAGINA!! I was a waitress, and the doctor said I prob got it from touching the plate of a person with strep throat and then not washing my hands before going to the bathroom, and this is graphic, so be warned, my business swelled up to the size of a grapefruit, and looked like a giant butterflied shrimp, and sneezed out bright green snot for a week. A cautionary tale if ever there were one.

If you have been handling money or working with the public you should wash before and after. This is to prevent germs from being transmitted to any part of your gentile area.

I wash my hands ALL the time! before and after but that is because I am a clean freak and I don't like germs.

I wash my hands AFTER Using the washrrom, i never heard of anyone doing it befor going to the washroom.
I gusse in a way i agree for the health and cleanliness of it.

yes, its safer to wash beforehand too. I shake a lot of hands, so its a courtesy to others that I wash my hands after "the bathroom", and its a courtesy to myself to wash before I touch my private zones.
Also, flush before you use the toilet (as well as after), in case it splashes someone else's residual waste and germs and viruses.

Actually it would depend, for example if you have just got done working on a car and you have grease and oil all over your hands you should. Or if you just want to wash your hands to let's say have a fresh start like if your going to breakfast,etc you don't have to.
