You have to make the wearing of cloths associated with something the dog likes. My dog enjoy going for walks so putting on clothes and going for a walk is fun for them. They see the clothes, usually just something simple as a scraf and they go nuts because they know they will go for a walk. I have dachshunds and they do enjoy their clothes. I've had people pull over in cars just to comment on how cute the dogs look all dressed.

I didn't train my puppy to wear clothes, I just put clothes on her, at first she used to try to chew on then, but I would tell her not 2 do that and maybe tap her on the nose slightly....she's fine w/ wearing clothes now and she doesn't mind then at all
I dressed her up as a pumpkin 4 Halloween♥♥

Buy shirts, coats, etc. Many places like Target, PetSmart, Drs. Foster & Smith, etc. sell the clothes.

My dog has all types of clothing which I started as a puppy, but you have to remember (the dressing up is really for us and dogs could care less). Hats and boots are a little tricky and mine does not like those.

How old is the puppy? Anything under six months is pretty much a waste of time.

After that - same routine as teaching a dog anything. Small steps, lots of patience, reward the good moves and indicate displeasure with the bad. The dog wants to please you, just needs to know how. And a mini-snack as a reward is strong positive re-enforcement, used by all professional trainers.

I myself dont understand your need to dress your dog up in clothes just to make him look cute. the only thing your dog may need as far as clothes are concerned would be a coat especially made for dogs, to keep him warm in winter if he is in a cold climate and he doesnt have much hair for protection. Dogs learn to wear clothes just like people do. Please keep the dressing to a minimum, for the dogs sake

haha yeah.
i know what you mean.
couple years back, we bought one of our dogs a little knit sweater with the american flag on it.
the first couple times i think it irritated him, but afterwards i think they'll get use to it.

but make sure its not too tight or too loose.
too tight can cause suffocation of restriction of movement.

too lose can well, they can trip on the clothing and make sure if its a boy, that it dont hang down in front of their you know what, cuz they'll just end up pissing all over it.
lol

hope this helps.

If you just keep putting the clothes on them, they'll get use to it. When we put a sweater on my little teacup chihuahua, he didn't even notice it. I would say he almost likes it! Lol.

well my dogs never really wear clothes and you don't necessarily have to train it. just buy the right size and put it on the dog w/o hurting' it.
