The child must take the medicine. Try crushing it very fine if it's in chewable pill form, or if liquid, that's even easier. Make a little "milk shake" with her favorite ice cream and mix the meds with it. Be sure it's just a small amt. at first to be sure she gets the whole dose of med. You can always give her more regular milkshake. This could work with any of her favorite treats that could be mixed, mashed, etc. Applesauce, peanut butter, jelly, cheese spread, juice. Good luck, and hope your princess feels better soon.

If the doctor prescribed something and you take it the pharmacist to fill, say like Target or Walmart, they can now add flavors to the medicine for a small fee. I get this everytime my children get sick.
If that doesn't work then you can either put the medicine in the child's drink or in their food. This helps as well.
Good Luck to you and I hope your child feels better.

Mother of 5 here...
Some kids are more stubborn than others, but you must be firm. I don't agree with making medicine to tast like candy because it causes too many accidental poisonings. Five years old is actually old enough to teach her to swallow a pill whole. This is how I solved the problem with my most stubborn one.

I've crushed them and mixed them with their food before. Also make sure your child takes a good amount of fluids to accompany her medication as directed, to metabolize.

Hmm..yes you might need to hide her medication in her food.......or you can try to talk to her about why she doesn't want them, and tell her if she doesn't take them she won't get better...
