Myself I studied for at least a year, my wife studied a little longer, take a look at these figures & see how many people in 2006 were taken advantage of, but of course they will tell you different, they studied with their Bible, King James, Catholic, American Standard, etc..
Last year 2006, we "brainwashed" as some of you like to say, 248,327, that became Jehovah's Witnesses and everyone of these had to change their minds pertaining to the false teachings that they had been taught, these were people that used their own Bible, King James, etc., 28,915 were from the United States.
During the service year, 2,340 Kingdom Halls were completed around the world. This represents an average of 195 halls per month, or just over 6 per day! Since November 1999 when the construction program in lands with limited resources began, 11,700 Kingdom Halls have been built. As of right now, 40 Kingdom Halls are being build each week of the year. In many areas, once a hall is finished, meeting attendance soars and halls are soon filled to capacity.
This is on the average of 680 new Jehovah's Witnesses every day of the year, or six '6' new Congregations each day of the year.
Recently a clergyman in Brooklyn, New York, obtained a copy of the book The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life. He was so impressed with the chapter dealing with prayer that he used the book to teach members of his church this chapter in a special meeting. Later he was asked by one of them, “Are you teaching us out of those Jehovah’s witnesses’ books?”
He replied: “It is the truth, isn’t it? When you want Sunday-school literature, you get it from several sources, don’t you? Well, Jehovah’s witnesses teach the truth. Furthermore, when you see Jehovah’s witnesses with the Watchtower magazine, you ought to take it, because they print the truth.”
You say: "do you consider the fact that you may have taken advantage of someone that didn't know their theology as well as you do?" If someone walked into your church and knew nothing or very little pertaining to the Bible, ??? would you be taking advantage of them by teaching your theology? Your ??? just reversed to you.
Thanks for the 2 points, which I'm not interested in.

It takes an average of 3 years for a bible student to become a witness.
There is no 'diving in'. That is usually discouraged by the elders.
During their association with Witnesses, yes, comparing doctrines are apart of the learning.
But your first quirk is what really got me, because the teacher always knows more than the student. For a long time.

If you believe in something and want to share and convince someone else, that is not taking advantage of someone. If you use force and coersion then it is.
I'm not a JW. I've had many friends who are and I know they sincerely believe in their religion. I also learned if a JW comes to your door and you tell them "I am happy with my beliefs and do not want to discuss them ", or a firm "No I'm nit interested" They will go away. If you make up excuses like I'm busy or I have company they will come back, you have not said no.

From most of the answers I've read in Yahoo, it isn't hard to know more about the bible than most.
What amazes me is why Pastors and Ministers of other religions keep their flock in such darkness.
It is not our fault that most Christians don't know their bible.
It's not our fault most Churches teach people things that aren't in the bible.
If our salaries were dependent on people being uninformed about the bible,
If our salaries were dependent on 'feel good' docturines
We would keep our flock in darkness also, and not go door to door.
