i think the society we live in makes it so, also people are too far away from God and his commandments.

People seem to think that each one, individually, is the center of the Universe. There is almost no sense of community anywhere. If we all had to get in a wagon and "head West" with this mentality, no one would survive. We have built a society wherein we can be self-sufficient. So, out the window goes every common courtesy. It's rare, and sad, that one cannot get so much as a smile or a hello these days. People walk by and ignore the old man who fell, the old woman who dropped her eggs, and the young woman who is trying to get her 4 children across the street all in one piece.
It's sad to see that sometimes the only way people end up acknowledging each other and helping each other is in the midst of a crisis, such as an earthquake, tornado, hurricane and the like.

I agree with you, there are so much more insensitive/selfish individuals around these days than I can remember as a child. When I was younger, going to Sunday School, Bible Study and Summer Bible Camp, I was taught that one had to love and respect themselves before they could love and respect anyone else and that the love of God and the teaches dictate to love thy neighbor as you love thyself, very few love their neighbors these day and even fewer love themselves. To deter such individuals in my life, I have learned, and it was a hard lesson, to ignore. I am not a insensitive person or a selfish person and I have turned the other check so much until my whole body is just one big cheek, I constantly ask for direction when it comes to dealing with such individuals on a daily basis and it has worked thus far. 46 years and counting. The only solution I can suggest is religion, do I care, well yes and no, yes because selfishness is a heavy burden, being selfish, gets you more than you bar gin for (most times it isn't what is wanted but what one perceives they need) and no, because it is something I cant change, and only can counteract this when it invades my home, but outside is a different. I say we all continue to pray. God Bless.

If we are seemingly more and more selfish (and I think this to be true too) I suspect that it is because we are more individualistic as a society now a days.
We interact with machines, instead of people. When we call a company, we often listen to a machine and follow it's instructions. When we go to a supermarket we check out our own goods and pack our own bags. When we book a plane ticket, we do it online. In 2020, 70% of the world's population will live in big cities. The extended family has gone out of the window in many European countries. It will eventually disappear in Asian and African cultures as well.
We are just being forced to fend for ourselves as citizens of a very selfish and mono society. We are the offspring of the world we have created for ourselves.
P.S. That said,I think that by being conscious of this then we can fight against it. Be polite, be positive, smile at people you meet and everything will be ok.

We (society) have been selfish and insensitive since the beginning of time. Even starting with Adam and Eve. It's possible that now people are starting to realize it more. I hope that's the case b/c the more people who have their eyes open to it the more we can do to reverse it. I know that God grieves over how self-centered and crude we are toward one another. I definitely pray for a world whose heart will be softened and covered with God's love. I pray for a world of people who will put others needs before their own. This would solve a lot of problems and end a lot of wars quicker.

The people is confused. Today, in the West, the difference of right from wrong has been blurred by the mass media, the education system, politicians and businessmen.
All this is because we are approaching the End Times.
We are experiencing the birth pangs before the arrival of the Messiah, King of the Jews and redeemer of all mankind. (BTW, the Messiah will be absolutely mortal, born of a man and a woman.)

We live in a society in which we do not need to see the consequences of our behaviorsas on this computer. Whatever I say ,if in person there would be nonverbal communication as to how people are reacting, this is missing on the internet. Besides this we live in an era of "post-modernism" in whivh logic and reason are replaced with how one feels about a subject. A question asked on another subject was answered with a response that history of the matter really did not matter only how they felt about it right then.We have taught post modernism in our children in which a right or wrong answer did not matter only how the child felt about his/her answer. If feelings are put above reason then there is no constructive way to communicate as feelings change with differing days

People are more self indulgent, self gratifying, and self minded than at any time in history. My theory is that it is brought about by the media which constantly exploits the lives of the rich and spoiled as the lifestyle to be highly sought after and to be attained. The people who are brought into the public eye due to financial position, celebrity status, inherited status, and media attention are usually very self oriented. This would include the likes of Paris Hilton, Alec Baldwin, Brittany Spears, Rosie O'Donald, Donald Trump. The media glorifies these people setting them out as special and young people, who have no life experiences to draw from to make good choices in who to imulate see the wealth, the privilege and attention given to these people and follow after them as if they were a God.
I would put this forth as a possible solution to the proliferation of desentisizing our youth to violence, sex, drugs, disrespect, vulgarity a new set of ethics on the media industry. Rules that would not cannonize a potty mouth rapper spouting hate and violence but would blacklist such performances and artists claiming this obnoxious filth as entertainment. We should not buy their music, games, movies or any form of entertainment or media which knowingly promotes this type of media. If we withold our purchases this will put a cramp in their wallets and that is the name of their God.

I think we were much more inter dependant on each other at one time. Wealth and materialism has made people incredibly self centred and selfish. People looking out for number one. Also, with the world market most things are standardised so anything not standard is unsupported. We live in a society with many more rules that tell us what and who to care for.

great question
many people suffer with that social problem.
what cause that?
i think some modern philosophy such as Marxism is the main effect on that subject.
everybody think that money or social relief can solve everything or satisfy the souls.but as u know they r all wrong.they never feel perfect sense of helping others.and also i think that is the slight difference human and animals.
but there r always non selfish people on earth.i hope one day u ll come across with them
