112 Countries

I have been all over the world many many times. I was int he US Navy during Vietnam and lived on an aircraft carrier for 4 years. I circumnavigated the world three times. We stopped everywhere as well. We were the newest and largest aircraft carrier int he world at that time.

Then I got into the Travel Business and for the past 34 years I have constantly traveled the world many times over and over. I have cruised on 103 ships and counting. I have owned a lot of Travel Agencies and Tour Companies so travel has been like breathing to me. I have even owned an African Safari Tour Company.

I have also been the Travel Expert for many TV companies advising them where to film, how to get there and not only the people, but the equipment. I have to go out and scout various locations.

So a lot of my travel have been for work but if you love it, and I do love travel, it is a labor of love.

I love the differences, the similarities and above all the people. I love to explore new places and have left my footprints on all of the continents. I have always been a respectful visitor and tried to leave a favorable impression of myself, my state and my country. We are all truly traveling ambassadors of where we call home.

Much of my travel has been to familiarize myself with an area, a city, a country or a cruise ship so I could effectively sell it to others interested in going there and doing that. Other times I would have a group with me and I was the Tour Director. A lot of work but I made a lot of people's dreams come true. The worse job I have ever loved!

Emerson said it best : "We travel the world over to find the beautiful but we must carry it with us or we will find it not".

It is all about the attitude you project throughout this world. Go with the right attitude and you will have a fantastic time and enrich your life forever.

I did do a chart of the various countries that I have visited and it was 112. You could chart the countries that you have visited as well. Something to look back on when you get to be my age!

Keep on traveling.........

I have been to 36 different countries and the reason I travel is to experience new places of beauty, encounter new types of people within their own culture, and to make new friends.

I have heard from others that have traveled" that all countries seem to be the same" I disagree with this. Sometimes you have to actually be looking for peace of mind and stop just travelling around looking at the sights.

A story of mine, I was travelling in China, Inner Mongolia, and an old man came up to me. He could not speak English nor me his language, but we tried to communicate. Over a period of a couple hours we found our communication median was acting a drawing. I found out that this man was a simple farmer with virtually no material wealth of any kind. He gave me a tour of his village and I met all his friends, we became very good friends over time and to this day we still can't speak to eachother I have found that he calls me brother to all his friends. Experiences like this a person can never get through idleness nor through simple travel and taking pictures of the sights.

Thanks Have a Nice Day!

I have been very fortunate because my job took me to many many countries around the world. Still I missed a few here and there but it was always a great experience! Not always fun in the classic sense but an education of sorts and a mind (horizon) expansion I would have never gotten by staying at home. I was actually able to live in each place for a few weeks to a few months. I got to know the local "color" and took in many sites unseen by most. I've seen things I'll never forget and some I'd love to! I enjoy travel and I view each trip I take as an adventure.

22. I think. There are places I always wanted to see. Like the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Venice, The Great Barrier Reef, The Hassan 11 Mosque in Casablanca etc etc. I needed to travel to see them, didn't enjoy the actual doing of the travelling.
Eire, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Andorra, Italy, Sicily, Roumania, Turkey, Morocco, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Madeira, Canary Isles, Greece, Gibraltar, if you can call it a country, I've been to an island somewhere but forgotten the name of it for now.

This has been a most interesting thread. So many people traveling the world, it's unbelievable! We're a global people.

I am ashamed to admit it, but I have only been in five countries. I loved every minute of it, but took a hiatus to raise a house filled with children. That's like a country all its own. The Kingdom of Chaos.

I love London. Its architecture, its people , its history....I could live there. Though it would be nice it if had stopped raining.

Not counting the U.S., where I was born:
Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Netherlands, Denmark, Iceland, Vatican City (I guess that counts), Luxembourg, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong (technically, I guess that means China), Japan, Philippines, Bahamas, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Venezuela. So 28 in all. I get around. Would like to make it to Africa sometime, then I'll have hit all the continents. Except Antarctica, which seems kind of pointless.

I've only been to 8 or 10 countries. I don't like the travel, but I do like the destinations. One thing that I don't really understand is why people from the U.S. often only want to travel to different countries. The U.S. has many wonderful sites that everyone should see sometime.

About 12 I think..

India,
USA (well just New York),
France,
Italy,
Spain,
Bulgaria,
Sweden (Stockholm),
Cuba,
Morocco,
Tunisia
Czech Republic (Prague)
And Malaysia (although technically a one-night stop-over on the way to India — (but I stayed in a hotel overnight, so it counts!!)

I love travelling but I havent been to anywhere near as many places as I want to.. I still have central/South America to visit (Top of my List!!), the rest of the Caribbean, New Zealand, Canada, parts of Africa, China and most of Asia on my list still to go!
