Would any guy date a somewhat pretty girl who is smart, tomboyish, and wears out of style clothes?

I go to a private school full of mostly smart people. I am nice and shy. I have few friends. I am not looking for a BF, just input.

Of course. There are literally billions of men on this planet, more than 100 million in my country. No matter what characteristics you named it should be possible to find a guy willing to date you.

The characteristics you described are not even, for the most part bad: smart is good, so is pretty. Tomboyish can be good depending on what you mean; some men find that attractive. As to the clothes, that is simply a non-issue. Straight men don't care about fashion, they are mostly oblivious to it. It is women who are more likely to disparage you for not being in Vogue.

The biggest obstacle for finding a boyfriend that you listed is being shy. It stands to reason that the more boys you talk to and interact with, the more likely you will find one who is attracted to you. Shyness is often mistaken for arrogance. A guy might think "this girl thinks she's so superior she won't even talk to me".

I assume from your question that you are a teenager. Just smile at and greet the boys in your class. There are so many raging hormones at that age that someone is bound to notice you. Good luck and have fun.

i only go for tomboy types - but not too butch. the clothes don't bug me, i find a tshirt sexy - though a skirt couldn't hurt.
