I got this mosquito bite on my elbow like 2-3 days ago and it's left a big red mark, it's swollen and it hurts to move/bend my elbow... I'm really worried, should I go to the doctor or is it just nothing?

If you don't have any other symptoms I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Most persons who become infected with West Nile virus (WNV) develop no clinical illness or symptoms. In previous outbreaks in the Northern Hemisphere, an estimated 80% of people who became infected with WNV never developed symptoms attributable to the infection.

Of the approximately 20% of infected people who do develop symptoms, most develop what has been termed West Nile fever.

The incubation period for WNV infection is thought to range from about 2 to 14 days, although longer incubation periods have been documented in immunosuppressed persons.

Clinical Features of West Nile Fever include: Fever, Headache, Fatigue, Skin rash on the trunk of the body (occasionally), Swollen lymph glands (occasionally), Eye pain (occasionally)

lt probally is nothing but an infected bite from scraching . By the 2-3rd day you would be feeling much more than a swollen elbow. You would be feeling as though you have the flu except you would not have the cough and cold part of the flu. You would feel, ache joints, fever, patches of rashes all over including feet and hands, bad headache, upset tummy, vomitting, exhaustion/extreme fatigue. these symption come on suddenly not over time. Are you in an area prone to mosquitoes, such as areas where you get a lot of rain.? Also you can check with the (www.Center For Diease Control.com) on line and they will map out the area in the US where West Nile has been found. I always check with my doctor when Im not sure of somethin that could be serious or a life threat to me. West Nile is serious and could be a threat to a persons life.

I wouldn't worry to much. You probably got a little touch of arthritis also. Of course it's red and swollen but, this isn't the way it works. If you had a fever and were really ill, maybe but after 2-3 days, I wouldn't worry.
