why do some people add and subtract from the bible? what you see is what you get, i just hear some people say "oh i believe in jesus christ and heaven but i dont believe in hell", how can you not believe in hell when the bible states that there is? another thing doesnt the bible state that committing suicide in a sin, but yet i hear people say that "not if you have mental disorders, or if you are emotionally distraught? i dont see that written in the bible anywhere, if you committ suicide thats a sin, you cant repent for that. im an agnostic, but im just confused on how people envison God the way they want him to be and not for who he really is written in the bible. Im not a christian anymore, but when i hear christians say these kinds of things it makes me think that some christians are just plain retarded and dont know what they are talking about, in the us you are taught to believe that christianity is the only solution, so in that aspect its really easy for a less intelligent

As a Christian, it cracks me up at how ignorant some Christians can be by adding and subtracting these things...

Suicide is a heavily debated subject...

And I have never seen evidence in the Bible that states suicide is a sin...that's a heavily debated thing with no clear thoughts brought through.

The quote not to add or subtract from the bible was stolen from the Jewish Torah, what Christians call the Old Testament. Just another quote the Church stole from the Jewish bible. At least they didn't twist this one into some pagan meaning like they've done with the rest of it.

Then the Church added to God's word by sticking the New Testament onto the Jewish bible, and THEN turned around and warned that God said not to add to His word!

The entire "New" Testament is an addition to God's word, and it's all about a pagan virgin bloody human sacrifice like the ancient Aztecs, an abomination, not a "completion" of the Jewish bible.

this is the problem....... Christian is just generalizing. Everyone that believes in Jesus is technically a Christian. Now, every denomination has their own interpretation of what the Bible says.
Catholics, Pentecostals, Jehovah Witness, Evangelicals are all Christians and yet none can agree on one interpretation of the bible. If you do your research you will notice that each particular denomination uses a particular interpretation and doesn't acknowledge the others as "true".

Yes, many people in this world are ignorant and they follow what they are told without studying it or trying to find the truth. This criteria does not only apply to Christians, though. Every religion and non religions have ignorants.

wow i have a pretty good answer for u actually..my answer is from a similar question that was proposed (some parts m,ay not make sense because it is answering another question):

OMG..don't you all see that having so many different versions of the Bible indicates a corrupt religion? Many authors, editors, revisors, etc. of the Bible only changed/deleted/added verses to appeal to Christians so they would remain faithful (in other words through lies) and to appeal to people who are interested in converting (the same way). Converting through lies and putting in what people WANT to hear is corrupt. For all we know, the all-loving peaceful Bible could have had some ugly verses that were deleted or replaced with more peaceful ones so that Christianity could not look like a culprit or evil religion in the future. CORRUPTION!

An imperfect, flawed religion indicates that it is disqualified as being the true religion, as God is perfect.

When you said, "I think people are seeing the question they want to asnwer, not asnwering what has been asked..."

Well, thats kind of like the Christians changing the Bible into what they want their religion to be like (aka allowing more freedoms, making bad deeds seem less impactful, etc.), not seeking the truth or caring about what is really meant for them because what it really meant for them may not be what they want to hear and/or defame Christianity.

Probably cause the Bible never mentions the Bible at all let alone anything about adding or subtracting from it. The Bible after all didnt exist for centuries after the last book was written when it was compiled by the Church. Even then it went through different cannons until todays was adopted in the reformation period. The first Bibles included books th at are now excluded and excluded books that are now included.

People do tend to envision God as they want Him though, that is exactly why you have to fast and pray to know God as He is.

BTW your question would be more effective if you broke up your paragraph into multiple paragraphs.

I don't see suicide as clearly cut as you present it.. There is not "thou shalt not commit suicide" verse in the bible.. But I do see people taking clear cut verses and trying to interpret them to say something else...
You are right thou if you believe in the devil you must also believe in God.. In heaven, then hell also..

You never were a Christian or you wouldn't leave. You may have been religious, but I don't think a true Christian would leave..

You're not from the U.S., are you? We are NOT taught to believe that "Christianity is the only solution."

As for suicide. Nowhere in the Bible is suicide mentioned. Not only that, but I think God is a little bit more fair than we give Him credit for, and He knows our hearts. So what if a person who decided to commit suicide realized at the last moment that they wanted to live, and they asked God to forgive them? Do you NOT think that if God and heaven exist, that they would be with Him there? The God I know is merciful. If a person commits suicide because of a chemical imbalance, I believe firmly that God would have mercy on them.

And of COURSE Christians are going to disagree on things. We're human, aren't we? All of us are going to have different interpretations of things, including Scripture.

The bible itself has had much added and subtracted from it. As it's been said before, the word hell has been misinterpreted from the first translation. It sure helped the Catholics though. They translated it. Their bible gave them a good reason to committ murder. They were judge, jury, and acting on 'God's behalf' during the Inquisition.

It's not meant for us to judge a person who committs suicide. That is between God and him/her.
