Cockatoos tend to be the "most loving". The can also be very demanding or self destructive if they do not get attention. If I were you I would do some more research on the different types of parrots and take all factors into consideration ie. how much time can you spend with your bird. Birds are a life time commitment and although our situations may change their needs do not. The price of the bird will vary depending on weather you buy him privatley, from a pet store or a breeder. I personally am a macaw person. Good luck

Hi most any bird can be loving and affectionate.. But I would say that if this is your first parrot an Eclectus would be a good first parrot. The males are so sweet and good natured.. The females can be a bit nippy and tempermental.. They do talk and they can talk as well as an African Grey... But unlike a Grey they do not bond to just one person they like everyone .. They are very playful and love to eat !!! The thing with Eclectus though they have a stricter diet than most parrots.. thier digestive system is longer than other parrots so you need to keep up a good diet for them... In my opinion they are the best bird for a newbie.. I have a Solomon Island Ekkie 4 years old he is the smallest of his subspecies he is about 12 inches long easy to handle... I also have a Goffins Cockatoo he is very vocal so if you are in an apartment this isn't a good bird for you to get. And he only likes me.. Also I really don't recommend buying a bird from a bird show I am not saying that they are bad or anything.. Its just that I think buying from a reputable breeder where you can go and see the bird weekly before you bring it home is a better idea. As far as cost it really depends on the breed don't expect to pay 100.00 for a parrot that is unrealistic.. Take your time look around get to know the bird before you buy it.... Good luck

Not sure I understand your question. Are you wanting to buy a bird from this "animal show", or take one to it?
Birds in many species can be loving. Much depends on the bird and more on the owner of. Birds are not like dogs or cats, captive birds require so more knowledge and expensive to purchase, cage, toys, food, vets and Time.
The larger the bird the more expense and time and efforts.
Be careful where you buy a bird! Birds hide their sickness's. Is instint for birds because in the wild they become prey/food or the flock leaves them behind if they can't keep up. The birds we keep in our homes now are very mush like the wild birds flying free outside, our birds have the same strong instints to survive and mate and breed as those Crows you see flying by.
Read and learn, talk with breeder's and bird store personal to narrow down to the species you want. Then handle some birds of that species, learn what is a good diet for that species, then price around, but don't buy the less expensive bird you find, is a reason for price, some birds are sick and sick birds break your heart and cost you big bucks in vet bills.
Umbrella Cockatoo's are the sweetest and also the most needy and time consuming. ( I live with two of them) Other cockatoo's vary in size and personalities, again, read and read and learn Before you buy.
Smaller birds are sweet and smart and very nice and easier to live with, so don't pass by one of those for a pet bird.
yahoo or google search for the species you are interested in.
Feed a good healthy diet is a must do, learn what the bird you pick needs for health.

Well, some birds can be affectionate, but you don't always know if they will turn out that way. They have their own unique personalities. The best way to have a sweet bird is to handle it often and kindly, and to spend lots of time with it. Understand its natural behavior (and don't get angry when it screams loudly or often, bites, etc.) Do a lot of research on the breeds you are interested in and talk to multiple breeders. Get to meet and visit lots of adult birds as well. The really clingy birds like cockatoos need tons of time and attention, and wil have severe psychological problems if left alone too much. They are cuddly, but can also be very difficult to manage correctly. A hand fed cockatiel is hard to beat for friendly and sweet, but they can whistle loudly all day. Conures can be very noisy. These birds aren't the best talkers, either. African Greys can be the best talkers, but not all will. They aren't always the cuddliest either, but are fun to have.

'Green Cheeked Conure' ! I had one, and he was the MOST lovable bird, that i'd ever seen. They 'do' tend to choose one 'favorite' human... so be careful on that...but other than that, they are perfect for what you are looking for. At an adult age, they get to around 10" long, head - tail...so, not to big, not to small. They need lots of love & care... and please...BEFORE you get any type of parrot, DO THE RESEARCH !!!!! On things like food, and things they cant have, or 'do'... it's important ! If you get a conure.... noooo teflon pans, or scented candles in the same room, and NO avacados !!! they're poison to the birds.

Almost any parrot that was lovingly handfed and hand raised will be happy to cuddle and kiss you. Congo African Greys are my favorite to cuddle with. I have two - one cuddles more than the other. Both were hand raised. And are great talkers. They are a good size too.
Find a breeder - do not buy from a pet shop if you can help it.

Others can point you to some specific breeds that may be more "loving" than others. But I think the most loving kind of parrot is a well-loved one.
