She has the baby in your country and then what? Is the baby automatically a American or Canadian?

not sure about canada but if a foreign woman has a baby inside of the U.S. then yes her child will automatically have american citizenship.

Whatever country you are born in, is your citizenship. If the child has a birth certificate in whatever country, then they are a citizen of that country. While the mother will not be a citizen. For instance, if a Canadian woman has a child in U.S. then decides to go back home to Canada and wishes for that child to have legal citizenship, she will have to apply for the proper documents and go through proper channels to get it done. The child would then have dual citizenship.

If the woman has her baby in the United States of America.... yes the baby will be American.........(I have no clue about Canada)

ya, dats y mexican (and any other race from another country) women who were pregnant, had the baby here cause now the baby is a citizen and gets the rights dat americans do. they don't do it as much anymore but, like 20 years ago, its was happenin a lot.

and no, i am not racist. many of my friends r hispanic but, wat i am sayin is true. its even been of the news before.

and well, i am not sure bout canada.

different countries have different laws about this

it`s right of soil or
right of blood

The US has right of soil..... which means that a child born on the soil has right of citizenship.

tina- you are not quite right. Many countries will not give citizenship to a child born there if the parent(s) do not have citizenship themselves. This is called right of blood.
Japan has this system....(which can leave abandoned children without citizenship if it is suspected that one parent is not Japanese)
