If you don't believe that Christ is GOD PLEASE don't post any comments, Thanks

I've found myself in a Debate with some Jehova's Witnesses.
The topic is the Divinity of Christ. They don't believe that Christ is God and they won't look at any other source except the Bible.
They won't even look at the writings of the Early Church fathers. Sola Scriptura.
I showed them John Chapter 1 and they said that it was a matter of translation, and Christ is only a messenger that came to tell us the real truth about God.

I will need your help on how to show them that Christ is truly Our God who became man. Any pointers and guidlines will be very much appreciated.!

God Bless you

+ Jesus is God +

Here is an exhaustive study of the Bible as a basis for the doctrine of the Holy Trinity including that Jesus was God: http://www.cwo.com/~pentrack/catholic/Trinity.txt

+ Sources of Doctrine +

The main issue with "Sola Scriptura" Christians is their rejection that our faith and doctrine is growing throughout the ages inspired by the Holy Spirit.

I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. (John 16:12-13)

The Catholic Church does not use Holy Scripture as the only basis of doctrine. It could not. The early Catholic church existed before and during the time that the New Testament was written (by Catholics).

There were hundreds of Christian writings during the first and second centuries. Which New Testament writings would become official was not fully decided until about 400 AD.

Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit was guiding the early church (and is guiding the church today) to make the correct choices about things like:
+ The Holy Trinity (which is also only hinted at in the Bible)
+ Going to church on Sunday instead of Saturday (which is actually directly against one of the Ten Commandments)
+ The Communion of Saints
+ Which writings include in the New Testament?

Things that are even more modern like
+ Slavery is bad. Slavery is never declared evil in the Bible. This was one of the justifications for slavery in the Confederate States.
+ Democracy is good. The Bible states that either God should be the leader of the nation like Israel before the kings or kings should be the leader, "Give to Caesar that which is Caesar's." This was talked about a lot during the American Revolution.

This second source of doctrine is called Apostolic Tradition.

Do Christians who do not allow the continuing guiding force of the Holy Spirit to make their beliefs more and more perfect, still endorse slavery as Colossians 3:22 commands, "Slaves, obey your human masters in everything"?

Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours. (2 Thessalonians 2:15)

We instruct you, brothers, in the name of (our) Lord Jesus Christ,to shun any brother who conducts himself in a disorderly way and not according to the tradition they received from us. (2 Thessalonians 3:6)

I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you. (1 Corinthians 11:2)

With love in Christ.

Read Hebrews 1 a few times. Especially where I think it is saying parts like God the father calls God the son God. And even tells Him thy God o God.
Why would the one and only God talk like that if it were otherwise?
Why were people so willing to stone Him if He weren't calling Himself God when He said I AM. Why would they say he was blaspheming God if he weren't claiming to be God and putting a new spin on things. Why would they feel so threatened.
How could he read their minds (I think this is in John too) and know what they were thinking and what was and is to come--Even God in the Old Testament judges men by their hearts and not the outer appearance.

Look for the verse that says His name means "God with us". If He is not God who came to be with us, then why would His name mean that.
That meaning does not mean God sent a messenger.
Likewise, if throughout the Bible God is our Saviour and Rock, why would Jesus be also assigned/ascribed these names? Do we have 2 Saviours?

Also look up the verse where Jesus talks about the Comforter as being He, not an it. When I spoke to a JW, the way she spoke they do not believe that the Holy Spirit is a He (another person of the Trinity). So why would Jesus ascribe a male attribute or gender (He) to The Holy Spirit if He were not a He but an It?

Genesis 1:26-27
If Jesus were not God, then why does it say this? "Let Us make man in Our image".... "God created man in His own image", not in the image of Jesus the angel or Jesus the person only but "in the image of God He created them". So either Jesus can be a part of the Godhead (also mentioned in the Bible is this word) creates people or why else does it say Our and Us? The Bible does not say the angels or man and God created man in His own image but that God did. And God would not say Our and Us and have the rest of the scripture say God created man in His own image if He created Jesus (Alpha and Omega, always was, is and will be, and even before time was and is I AM--also can look up these and prove that since He always was, is and will be that He was not created by anyone because He always was and that God created angels and if he were man or angel He too would have to be created) and then by Himself without the rest of the Our or Us create man. Even if He created man in the image of Jesus, would it not say that He made Jesus first and made Adam in the image of Jesus or that Jesus were made in the image of God and then the first Adam was made? And if Jesus is not God, then who is the other part of Our and Us? Does God really need the help of a man (Jesus) to make man? No, so then why would He say Us and Our if Jesus is not God? And if Adam is really the first man then wouldn't Jesus not be (just) a man, but part of the Godhead making man in His/Their image?

There is so much more I could have went into detail about but you have the key words, alpha and omega, Godhead, Before Abraham (was) I AM, Why people and others worship/praise Jesus if the Father is the only one to be worshipped (look at Revelation), and so on....

On the radio I heard an ex-Muslim preaching about his conversion which took about 3 days.
He said that he respected Jesus and was told that either Jesus was crazy to claim He is God (I AM) and not deserving of respect but rather sympathy or that Jesus really IS who He says He IS and is worthy of (worship/ [more than just] respect).

(2 Peter 1:12) 12 For this reason I shall be disposed always to remind YOU of these things, although YOU know [them] and are firmly set in the truth that is present [in YOU]. Was Peter really saying we are the truth because it is in us? A lot of times the Bible will make statements like these to show the closeness of two. Just like the union of a man and woman make them as one, not one physically rather one in unison. The problem with this is that trinitarians use the parable illustrations as verbatim in defending the man made doctrine of the trinity. In reality God is showing us the closeness Jesus and him share while Satan uses the same scriptures to draw people away from God and put the focus on anything but the real God that created the heavens and earth, the Almighty Jehovah God.

Jesus is "Dual Natured", he is Human and God, their are many instances where he speaks as a man and then suddenly he speaks as God, Here are some Scriptures the help your debate.

THE DUAL NATURE OF JESUS

The name Jesus refers to the eternal Spirit of God (The Father) dwelling in flesh. We can use the name Jesus to describe either one of his two natures or both. For example, when we say Jesus died on the Cross, we mean His flesh died on the cross, When we say Jesus lives in our hearts, we mean his Spirit is their. Below is a comparative list that will illustrate what we mean when we say Jesus had two natures or a dual nature.

As a MAN, Jesus...
1. Was born a Baby (Luke 2: 7)

But As GOD he...
Exsisted from eternity (Micah 5: 2; John 1: 1-2)

As a MAN Jesus...
2. Grew mentally, Physically
Spiritually, Socially (Luke 2: 52)

But as GOD he...
Never Changes (Hebrews 13: 8)

As a MAN Jesus...
3. Was tempted by the devil (Luke 4: 2)

But as GOD he...
Cast out Devils (Matthew 12: 28)

As a MAN Jesus...
4. Hungered (Matthew 4: 2)

But as GOD he...
Was the bread of life
and fed others (John 6: 35; Mark 6: 38-44, 52)

As a MAN Jesus...
5. Grew Weary (John 4: 6)

But As GOD he...
Gave Rest (Matthew 11: 28)

As a MAN Jesus...
6. Thirsted (John 19: 4)

But As GOD he...
Gave living Water (John 4: 14)

As a MAN Jesus...
7. Slept in a Storm (Mark 4: 38)

But as GOD He...
Calmed the Storm (Mark 4:39-41)

As a MAN Jesus...
8. Prayed (Luke 22: 41)

But as GOD he...
Answered Prayer (John 14: 14)

As a MAN Jesus...
9. Was Scourged and beaten (John 19: 1-3)

But as GOD he...
Healed the Sick (Matthew 8: 16-17; Peter 2: 24)

As a MAN Jesus...
10. Died (Mark 15: 37)

But as GOD he...
Raised His own body from the dead (John 2: 19-21; 20: 9)

As a MAN Jesus...
11. Was a sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10: 10-12)

But as GOD he...
Forgave Sin (Mark 2: 5-7)

As a MAN Jesus..
12. Did not know all things (Mark 13: 32)

But as GOD he...
Knew all things (John 21: 17)

As a MAN Jesus...

But as GOD he...
Had all power ( Matthew 28: 18; Col 2: 10)

Ask them how they re-translated John 1:1 when the people that came up with the NWT that they use didn't know the original language. A fact which was admitted in court.

If you believe that God is everything then there is nothing that is not God. Everything is divine! God that is Spirit manifesting itself as different aspects physically. You and I came from God stuff as is everyone else. There is nothing else but God. In truth you and I, and all other spiritual teachers whom we call God all came from the same stuff.

Christ whom we call God demonstrated how it is when one's consciousness is one with God. Didn't he say that "Be ye perfect as my father in heaven is perfect." We are all moving towards God consciousness and we are all becoming God conscious. The purpose of why Christ came is in order to help us remember who we really are!

He is either (1) God; or (2) an ordinary guy who happened to be able to raise the dead, cure uncurable diseases by an act of His will, multiply loaves and fishes, command the forces of nature, appear in locked rooms and disappear from same, forgive men's sins, accept the worship of other men, and rise from His own grave after prophecying that He would do so.
