It depends on where your at and where your at. By that I mean, on a day at open sea, on the pool deck they play appropriate having fun type songs. If your in Jamaica that day they may change that off to something a little more tin drums sounding. At the sit down dinner it was always a band playing like you would hear in a very high end restaurant with lots of piano playing. They do not play loud, just enough for good ambience. In the elevators and waiting areas, they didn't play anything, but on the Royal Promenade if you were at port in say Cozumel they would play a little Mexicam stuff to make atmosphere. Most of the time you didn't even notice it. In the clubs, it depended on the club. If it was a Mexican bar like the Bolero, when the band played they played authentic Mexican music and it was darn good, if you were in the Dragons Lair disco, they played disco etc.

There will be a variety of music at various times around the ship. Around the pool area they will have a combo playing Caribbean music for a part of the afternoon. Other times they will have piped in music. Then there is always the disco at late night and during the evenings there will be lounges where they may play jazz or dance music. An other place may have a piano bar with someone playing a portion of the evening. Much depends upon the ship.
