There are so many "around the house" type jobs for boys. And most people don't know that many young men in that age bracket.

You might try mentioning to the parents' friends that the boys are looking for odd jobs to earn some extra money. You'd be suprised how often someone will say they wish they had some help to empty out an attic, or to do yardwork, or painting. Something they need help with but don't want to pay a handyman for.
If I could say, "my friend Joe's son and his friend are good, hard-working boys who are looking for some work" I know 3 or 4 people who'd be interested.
