Be good. Be the best at what you do. They really don't have to give a damn about you - they are interested in what makes money and what is popular, if you're just another two-bit singer then they really are not interested in you. If you are creating a scene, have lots of gigs, a solid fanbase and your own demo CD, if not a proper recording of yourself then they are FAR more likely to listen to you. Sending CDs, phoning them and creating a fuss will only get you into the scene if you are VERY lucky.

you should have a demo tape at all times just in case you bump into one of the record execs on the street. also you should try and be more aggressive(in a nice way) and confident because they get loads of people wanting to talk to them so you must leave a big impression on them. try and enter as many singing competitions as you can to get your self experience and you might even be discovered by a talent scout. gud luck honey!

First of all, you need to have a good local reputation where you currently live and perform. If you have not already joined the musician's union or ASCAP then you should do that. They will help you get in touch with other members who know their way around.

First you need to have some good music to promote yourself, send them a demo tape, and some information about yourself, if they like what they see and hear, they will get back to you. if not move on and keep trying.
