This *is* a languages question! I make DVDs to help people learn Italian.

It is possible to do it with a DVD writer that plugs into your computer - but I find that the copies are not brilliant quality and the DVDs they produce are not always reliable in other people's DVD players. These things cost about £50 - make sure you get one with a USB connection if you decide to try it. But I don't recommend it.

Much better to use a DVD recorder with a hard disk. The Phillips ones are extremely good and they are easy to use. They cost about £200. It's an investment, but once you've got it you will wonder how you ever managed without it.

Connect a DVD player to the recorder with a high quality scart lead into the AV2 socket - a really good lead is absolutely essential. Start playback of your disk on the DVD player and press record on the DVD recorder to record onto the hard disk. The recording onto hard disk will take place in real time - so you might as well watch the film while you're doing it.

Then put a blank DVD+R or DVD-R disk into the recorder. You must ensure that you use only 16x certified discs for recording in the Philips hard disk recorders - the other ones will not work. I find the Verbatim ones are very reliable and produce excellent copies. Press HDD on the remote. Select the recording you have just recorded with "select". Then press HDD again. A feature film will take around 22 minutes to record from the hard disk onto the DVD. Once the recording is finished, make sure you finalise the disc to make it compatible with your friend's DVD player. If you used a good scart lead in step 1, there will be no perceptible loss in quality.

Let me know by email if you need any more help.

Well you need a dvd burner.

Record, upload it to your computer.

Open the dvd burner, and stick the dvd in.

Click what file you want to burn and burn it, and into what type of players you'd like to burn it into.

Then it will work.

This is not a languages question, and I'm not going to encourage you to keep posting in the wrong section by thoroughly answering you here.
