I'm travelling with Thompson Holidays on Tuesday. I'm a light traveller and so I was thinking of putting my clothes etc. into my sister's case. Can I do this or does each individual HAVE to have their own individual case?

Yes, what I was also wanting to know is the weight restrictions. I'm allowed 25Kg and so is she. if the case weighs in at, say, 35Kg then I assume that will be OK?

There are no rules against sharing a case.

Cheers :-)

It would be very sensible to take a case each. Your allowance of 25kg is made up of 20kg hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage. Even though you may be well under the allowance on the outward journey, you are giving yourself room to include any purchases on the return journey i.e. 3200 cigarettes if you are going to a duty paid destination, spirits, clothes etc. Of course, if you are confident that you will return with the same weight you go with by all means share with your sister, but BEWARE if the case weighs more than 32kg it will be refused. Then you have a problem, as where are you going to put the excess? Hope this helps as they are far stricter at the airports these days.

It depends on the airline. Most airlines are fine about this, but budget airlines such as Ryanair are not. If for example you shared a case and it weighed 35kg, Ryanair would charge you for every kilo over their weight restriction which could work out very expensive for you.
Please check with the handling agent for Thompson Holidays in the airport you are travelling from. They will be able to give you the correct information.

If you are each allowed 25kg and you pack one suitcase which weighs more than that, I doubt they will 'transfer' the allowance because this is a health and safety regulation for the loading staff as they are not supposed to lift anything weighing more than 25kgs. I would pack 2 cases and each put items in both in case the system loses one of your bags - that way you'll still have toothpaste, clean undies, suntan lotion ...

Have a good trip!

Yes, you can share a suitcase. The less cases the better, and what they care about most is the weight limit. And, the contents of course! Depending on the size and style of the jet or prop jet, there is a limit and you can check with your airline on which you are traveling, as to that limit. Happy flying!

There is no rule if you want pu your clothes in your sister case but in my opinion as each person allowed to take small luggage together and just in case you will shopping during vacation so you can fill your own luggage with the stuff.

No one makes you take a suitcase .
(This appears to be your first flight)
However it will be checked under one name and whomever it is , will be the one who claims it .
Also if the 2nd person puts something illegal in there , the first will get nailed for it .

Re: weight restrictions > that is per bag ,
you do NOT get to overweight a bag because you decide to share .
If you are overweighting , you are fibbing about traveling light .

You can share a suitcase but the weight per person still applies. So you can combine you weight allowance in one case.

You could share your suitcase with your sister. Or you could each use a smaller case and carry it into the cabin and store overhead. You won't have to go through luggage pickup that way.

the case will be the responsibility of one person (are you carrying any bombs drugs etc) the other person(you) has no case. depending on the airline the weight restrction on the luggage will allow for two people or just the one -- your sis
