I have been trying to meditate and really make an effort to hear the spirits that roam the world. I haven't known anyone personnally with a haunted home or have felt they can hear the spirits, so I've been searching the web for help but haven't come across much. Paranormal phenominon is so interesting to me and I know it's real. I did buy a Ouaji Board but never used it for fear of contacting dangerous forms of afterlife because I had heard that is what they attract. I'm truly hoping this can be learned and not that you can only communicate if you are born with the ability. I know this is a touchy subject and many people feel it's silly or that there is no such thing but I am a typical mid-aged suburban mother of two with curiousity to hear the spirit world around me. Can you help?

There aren't any spirits to hear. So, if you do start hearing something, check yourself into the nearest mental institution.

It takes much meditation. Meditate, concentrating on the will to open your third eye.
It also helps to look at yourself in the mirror, so long as the wall is white. Look slightly above your head, and you'll start to see your aura. Do this several times daily, and this aura will get more visibly detailed. This is directly correlated to how open your third eye is.
I would also recommend finding an herb called mugwort, and sleep with it under your pillow. It does wonders.
It is indeed a touchy subject; ignore the "brights" who say you're wasting their time, for they are not well-read. Most of the true information of metaphysical subjects is very underground, and can not be found in any large stores such as Border's Books or Barnes & Noble.

I pray and meditate quite often, however not as much as i would like. I do not consider myself of the christian belief.
The only advice for you i could possibly safely give, is to pray for the ability to open minded and willing.
You may want to take a look at your intent, as to why it is you want to do this...that may have alot to do with it.
You may also want to try some guided meditations, but i work on getting in touch with inner self, before i would take the chance of trying to get in touch with others.

The only thing I can say is to continue to meditate ......I feel all the answers are within...as far as the Queji Board bringing out bad spirits..they come from all over...good and bad are everywhere. Queji board is just one to name many.

I've definately seen a school for it for people who don't just have the ability born with. But I think you need to be born with it to really have it work good. And don't be chicken to use the Ouiji board just use it. Call your great grand parents or something , maybe an aunt or uncle that died.

ok a few pointers
meditating is for getting in touch with your spirit , your inner being
and although it heightens our senses , is not used for getting in touch with spirits .... just helps us
ouija boards are toys , and yes they can open us to dangers , but only our own fears manifesting , so they are useless as a means to develop as a medium
but you can learn to develop as a medium ... I believe everyone has the potential to
although it doesnt mean everyone will be a wonderful medium
anyone can learn piano , but not everyone will be a concert pianist

The spirit world is not outside of you or around you, it is within you. The true spirit is not a ghost, but your soul. You might not be as interested in this as you are with the paranormal, but this spirit can be accessed and can open up your world.

For what good reason would you want to hear spirits talking around you? Wouldn't the sense that you apply to the Board apply here too? Isn't God enough for you.

I wouldn't Advise doing that without GOD Almighty (Jesus) Watching over you!!!
Too much going on in that spiritual Realm.
(not the Spiritual Kingdom of GOD where GOD Operates---but the Mental Realm (it is a spiritual realm too!) where satan and his angels landed when kicked outta' GODs Kingdom!!)
