My mom did the same thing when I was young, and my six year old son offers me his money. Tell your parents that they wont TAKE your money but you would be happy to give them some if they need it, since you do owe them for buying you food and the house payment so you have a place to live. You are wearing clothes right now right? Be grateful and not selfish, one day when we are long gone the money wont be an issue anyways and you will be rewarded for your generousity

He really doesn't have a right to take your money. My mom is making me do the same thing when I get a job next year. She said she's going to take my money to pays bills, but I still have to buy my own car and pay my own auto insurance. Strict parents to me would just be have a ten o'clock curfew and not letting your friends call after nine. This is ridiculous! It's like he's trying to make you pay for yourself and you shouldn't have to do that until you are out of high school.

I agree that you should come up with a plan. Your dad may want to help you build a savings account. (that's a GOOD thing) If she's being a wicked step-monster then you'll just have to talk with your dad about it ... or your real mom.
You should be allowed to keep the money you make .. but I also think it would be a good idea for them to help you budget it... learning to be smart about money is hard.

How old are you? Open a direct deposit bank account and they won't be able to touch your money. Unless you take it out for them. Now that said, if you live in their home and eat their food. Then offer to pay some type of rent. If your of age, start looking for a room mate and get your own place.

Sounds like she's a witch. You earnt the money and should get to keep it. If you were over 18, then a gesture towards bills and rent might be nice but that is just out of order!

Ahhh that doesn't sound like good parenting to me. You worked hard for that money and you should be able to keep it and spend it anyway you want. Don't let them take your money, they should be able to come with a different way of punishing you. Not taking away your hard earned money!

Your step mom sounds like she's got problems. Come up with your own budget and present it to your dad.

If you earn the money you should be able to keep it and spend it your way.

I don't understand, why would they want to take all your money. Even the IRS, don't take all your money from you. Is that suppose to be tough love?

Can parents do that? Yeah I think that's strict but is there a reason they are doing this?
