deny others? Since parts of both works are obviously fictional, how can we possibly know which parts have a grain of truth in them?

True, parts of the bible are fiction. If we take the Earth which takes 365.25 days to orbit the sun and make it rain for 40 days till the highest peak is covered (5 miles high), then you will have added enough mass to the planet to skew the Earths orbit. (Because the mass was added rapidly over only a portion, 1/8th, of the Earths orbit). But that is not the case. Our orbit is similar to the planets around us. So the flood in the book of genesis is false.

This might not be the answer you're looking for, but It's the best i got. The DaVinci Code is nothing but rumor and lies. The reason people believe it is because it's so easy to beleive! They don't actually belive in God because they don't want to have to stop getting drunk, or give up control over their lives, or think that God will kill them since they shot a guy or something.They just aren't ready for that type of commitment. In the Bible, Jeremiah did some crazy stuff for the Lord and prophesised the truth thet people didn't want to hear or believe. Then another guy named Hananiah came and acted like a prophet and prophesised lies about how joyful and better life was going to get. So everybody denied Jeremiah and beleived Hananiah. Jeremiah cursed Hananiah the next day and cursed him.Two months later, Hananiah died. If Hananiah had kept on living, he would have prophesised more lies. (Jeremiah 27-28) God isn't what the people want to beleive! They want to beleieve he's not there so that they can continue their lives without any change.

sorry dude you can only accept it as all lie or all truth....humans for some really stupid reason need answers (ha isn't that ironic considering I am on YA) to everything so if they don't have an answer they make s*** up I was a devout catholic until I took a mythology course in HS. Every society in history has done it,...it's all a farce to either control the masses or placate scared people. The grain of truth is the question that they needed an answer to. Who's to say that the great flood wasn't just a localized tsunami? It's in more than one society's history so if moses (and family) was the only one to survive how in the HELL did these other accounts come to be?
