Humans have souls, and animals don't. An animal's life just ends. But human souls live on. They wait for the return of Jesus, when they might be called up to meet Him in the sky. The rest await Judgment Day.

The Creator gave life to both humans and animals. But for how long were they to continue to live? Scientists report that humans seem to have the potential of endless life, so that investigators are perplexed as to why man dies. The Bible gives the reason. It says that the Creator gave the first humans the opportunity of living forever. Death came only because they rebelled. What, though, of animals? They are not capable of conscious rebellion against God; yet they live only for a length of time and then die. Hence, it is clear that the Creator never purposed that individual animals live forever. For them death was natural.

It can be very sad, even tragic, to see a beloved pet die. But even in such a case, there is room for some balance. As noted earlier, animals were not created in God’s image, nor were they meant to live forever, as were humans. Regarding the way God made humans, the Bible says: “He has even put eternity into their minds.” Yet, nothing like this is said of animals. Ecclesiastes 3:11,

Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.

According to the Bible, the answer is .....nothing.
We become non-exisent ....just like before we were born.
We existed no-where before and end up no-where after dying.
All other ideas are based on the theory that the soul is immortal ....but it is mortal.
It dies.
That is not the end of the story in the long term.
Jesus spoke of a future resurrection.
However, that is the story in the short term.

I repeat. Just ask yourself what life was like before you were born. That is exactly what it will be like after you die. That should be enough cause for everyone to relax. Your genes, if passed, may carry anything from brain to eye color traits to another life. Just as all other forms of life from plants to animals. That is the best you and all the bible thumpers can hope for.

I chop their head off and then they go somewhere. I couldn't figure out where they go cuz I'm not dead yet. This place/state of consiousness you go after you die I like to call the other side. Eventually everyone will have that question figured out. Just be patient and you will die.

P.S. You have 70 more years to live
