Take your cat to the vet. Pet flea collars are useless and aggravate the animal's skin and respiratory system. If there are fleas in her environment you need to clean your place. Fleas can live dormant for years in a home that has previously had a flead cat or dog. When another shows up, the fleas "awaken". A vet can give you a home kit which not only takes care of the cat but cleans the home so the fleas don't come back. The vet will also give you something that will kill hatching eggs. Collars can't do that.
If you don't take care of this now and properly, humans in your place will be targets as fleas are non-discriminating. I have been bit by fleas in a friends' house because she had a carpet infested with them. Needless to say I stopped visiting.

I'd recommend going to the Vet and getting the cat some Frontline, or a like product to control the fleas.
Give the cat a bath using Dawn dishwashing liquid, and use a flea comb to remove fleas. Be careful to not get the soap into the cats eyes. This isn't a very convenient way for most people, especially if their cat isn't used to a bath.

I use a product called Advantage. It is a once a month application for cats (or dogs). As far as I know, you can only buy it from a veterinarian, but it is well worth the trip. It comes in a little tube and you part the hair on the back of your cat's neck and apply it directly to the skin. If you think you have a large infestation in your house, it might also be a good idea to treat the house for fleas. This is usually fairly inexpensive and many exterminators will do this for 20-35 dollars.

Just call your vet and ask for Advantage or Revolution. Usually they'll give it to you without an exam. You'll just apply it to the back of their neck, where they can't lick. This will take care of the fleas. Do it again in a month since it doesn't kill the fleas that are in the larvae stage, so within a month those fleas will be adults and the problem will be back. After the 2nd dose your problem should be gone. There's a 3rd dose you should do a month later just to be sure. Fleas are really easy to get rid of these days.

Even after you get rid of the fleas, your problem isnt over!! Most people dont know this but fleas cause TAPEWORM! Tapeworm is a zoonotic parasite, meaning humans can get it too, it may not very common but it has been known to happen. Working at a vet for 7 years has taught me that fleas can cause all sorts of health problems in humans and animals. So, please get a dewormer along with flea treatment. Go to your vet to get them as the ones from the pet store can be harmful. No flea collars! They dont work. Frontline is ok but I have noticed more and more clients saying it hasnt been working well. Try revolution. Also, treat the carpet and furniture. Very important! Good luck, you will need it. :D

Maybe try washing it. Fleas drown in water, just like anything else. Problem is, there's probably fleas & eggs in the carpet too. Yet another reason to use hardwood flooring. So I'd say a thorough shampoo of your carpets as well.

get a good flea collar or wash him in flea shampoo, or use a good flea spray, or a flea dip. take him to like petco or petsmart and they will cure the problem for you. cost $$ though. the vets office will have what you need. spray the inside of your house, the pets bed and wash his toys, then don't let him outside again.

So do ours!
Use lysol! Get a spray bottle and fill it half with lysol, half with water and spray everything in the house that cant be washed.
Household cleaners seem to kill the eggs and larvae on contact to by spraying, you will see immediate results, little blood speckles everywhere.
wash everything in hot water, darks in warm water.
use flea shampoo on your cat.
mop with lysol.
wipe everything down in lysol.
watch where your cat goes and esp. clean where they go with lysol.
Vacuum every day very thoroughly!
buy flea spray and spray your house, then you and your cat leave for a couple hours.
Come back and vacuum more!
Buy flea drops for your cats!
Keep doing this and they will go away! :)
